Brennan Price Johnson

The Athletic saying serious interest in the lad. Then goes to contradict itself by saying that Brentcelona have offered £3.5m.

Are all these teams having a laugh? Selling him for any less than something in the region of £8m surely wouldn't have a real positive impact on our finances anyway.

We have said we value him at £8-10M which i find a little low for a raw talent.

We better not sell him before we see him play. Hopefully the new guy at the top sorts a new deal out

Luckily for us nobody will pay anywhere near that much for him until he's proven he can do what he did in league 1 at this level, so we'll get to see him involved with us for a season at least. If league 1 achievements alone were enough to decide a players value then Walker would have been worth 8 mil too.

None of us know exactly what kind of impact he'll have at this level even though the signs are promising, best case for both parties is for him to stick around while our coaching staff take care of his development and let him show us what he's capable of as and when he gets his time on the pitch. I just hope our fans don't pile expectations on the lad because the championship is a big step up and it might take him a bit to find his feet

There were players playing in the Euros and at the highest levels around Europe who couldn't command a £10m Transfer Fee during a time when Clubs around the world have gone a year without having fans in the ground for a year yet who still had to pay players wages.

There is absolutely no way that a player who has played no higher that the English 3rd Division will be able to command a fee in these times at that level.

Part of me thinks this lad could turn out to be brilliant and part of me thinks that there is no way he will even cut it in the Championship - For me if an £4m offer came along I would take it but I haven't seen enough of him playing to make such a statement with any real certainty.

I don't think he does enough defensively for a CH Team who expects that of all his players. Even the Strikers are expected to defend and cut off passing angle when the team doesn't have the ball and I don't know if Johnson will work that hard. If he is willing to then by all means keep him. If he isn't then take the money.

The other point is. You can't deprive someone of the chance to play in the PL if that comes along because keeping an unhappy player wouldn't be good for moral within the squad

It's a win win really. As above I'd be surprised if someone offered the £8-£10M we value him at until he has done something in the championship and we offer a new contract in that time, however if a club is prepared to pay it then it's a substantial amount of money to help us fill other areas.

One decent season in League One and there's talk of £8m-10m.

Ivan Toney went for £5m last year who before that had scored 40 goals in 66 games over two years.

£3.5m is a fair offer. Up to Forest to determine if they think he'll go onto bigger and better things and be worth more - if they think that, we should keep him, and play him.

Problem is will he even sign a new deal? I don’t want him to go but if he won’t then get rid. I get the impression his Dad doesn’t rate the regime here.

Oliver Burke never had a full playing season in the championship either. Didn't he play only 5 games at the beginning of the season and was shipped off for 15 Million?

He had about 21 first team appearances in our 15-16 season, then had an impressive pre season that generated some interest in him. Then he started the season by scoring 4 goals in the first 3 games before being signed by Leipzig

Was definitely a dodgy move by RB Leipzig all things considered but I suppose they took the risk of striking while the iron was hot and hoping that he could maintain that form for them

He doesn't, I've spoken to him. He's entirely biased towards Brennan though.

Could we replace him with an equally good prospect with future sell on value for £3.5m? I'd say probably not. The reported fee for that Ndao is £4m for example.

And that's just to replace Johnson like for like in our squad. We only really benefit if we can turn that money into more than one signing.

Another one in recent memory is Arvin Appiah, who went to Almeria for £8m after a few sub appearances in the Championship.

If Brentford rate him highly enough to part with Millions and with there track record of Buying Gems like Toney, Watkins etc then that to me says for gods sake don’t sell unless somebody offers silly money.

That was a classic Jorge Mendes tuck-up though. Almeria had rich foreign owners and were the latest club to get bent over by Mendes after us.

We need to get Brennan signed up to a long-term deal asap though, or his dickhead dad will be hawking him around every team in Europe.

Absolutely pointless selling for 3.5M.
If clubs think he’s a serious talent and likely an uncut diamond let them
Get their hands in their pockets, otherwise piss off.
3.5M doesn’t even represent a gamble-even if he fails to cut it at Prem level they’d be able to
Shift him lower down the chain for at least 3M
Purely based on the Lincoln performances of last year

I've no idea if it's the case here, but as always, once a player has had his head turned, and particularly if his father is 'guiding' him, concentrate on getting the highest fee possible and move on.

Part of getting the highest fee is one of the things I'm talking about.

We shouldn't be in a position where other clubs can bully us into accepting a low fee. But because of awful transfer dealings, the subsequent spend related to that, and the bloated squad & wage bill, we are.

I wouldn't even sell him for £8m.

Keep this boy and let's try to build something with potential and players that are here for the moment.
