Brennan Price Johnson

Already acknowledged Hulkster - post #1109.

It's about Brennan (the thread) being another very good youngster that wont be utilised to build a promotion charge.

Me and Otis want a promotion before we go into the crematorium mate.

How do you know he won’t, Ray?

And who are these other “very good youngsters” who the club haven’t utilised?

Osborn was in our first team squad for 6 years making over 200 appearances.
Cash was a part of it for 4 years making nearly 150 appearances.
Yates is still part of it and Worrall is touching 150 appearances in a Forest shirt. Jordan Smith is our back up keeper and Alex Mighten was/is thought of so highly that despite only being 19 he’s in his second season in our first team squad.

Neither Walker nor Brereton are what anyone would term “very good” (yet) and to get the money we did for them was fantastic business.

None of the other youngsters we’ve released have gone on to anything above us, so it’s hard to know who all these “very talented” youngsters are that we are allegedly not utilising and selling the instant Scrooge McDuck pops his head round the corner are.

The best academy lads we let go or were forced to sell, who went on to play above our level, are Wes Morgan, Ben Osborn, Andy Reid, Michael Dawson, Jermaine Jenas, Matty Cash, Karl Darlow, Jamaal Lascelles, Patrick Bamford, Ollie Burke, Steve Stone. I've probably forgot quite a few though.

Most of these were from a long time ago. The more recent ones were sold for a significant amount of money I'd say.

I'd argue that Jenas, Cash, Burke, Darlow and Lascelles were sold for excellent money too.

I was talking about under the current regime. And none of those players were released - they were all sold for significant money.

Even Steve Stone was sold for £5.5 million back in 1999.

Forest havd always been a selling club punching above our weight class, have people forgotten the likes of Davenport,Webb,Clough, birtles,Hodge, etc in their prime being sold.
It was only during the nd era that we let players in their prime walked for free or in the case of harewood, sold for peanuts.Otherwise, under other owners,we managed to sell our assets for good prices.

That whole season was an utter shit show. But we did get good money for Stone, given that he didn't do an awful lot for Villa afterwards, and probably wasn't the same player since he did his knee in the previous relegation season.

Had we actually waited until we'd gone down to sell, he would probably have gone for a lot less.

I know. My post was in support of your point.

Ah sorry!

I was genuinely stunned when I saw how much Stoney went for. I’d genuinely forgotten. :)

He has been gliding with the ball. When he moves with the ball, passes ,crosses or shoots it is just classy.

At fault for Blackpool’s equaliser.

Yes he was.

Thought Lincoln got over run in midfield. In fact they reminded me a bit of Forest over the last 2 years, midfield sitting too deep and expecting the two wide lads to pull rabbits out of hats without support in numbers. A shame really because they've been great this season and I think deserved to go up. My guess is it was a game too far for them, they have a small squad, it was a hot day on a big pitch and overall they looked leggy and tired...Brennan was pretty good, when on the ball he looks tidy, but he is a little lazy and there was one pretty outrageous dive-I really hope he cuts that out next season.

Having said that if Lincoln did get promoted I think they would have had an almighty hiding in the champ. next year. Once they've lost the loans they would be seriously light and there are too many in that side (from what I can see anyway) that just aren't up to the champ, I thought that Hopper guy looked very poor....

Bad day for Brennan, losing in the final then not making the Wales squad, replaced by some Cardiff city knacker.

Hopefully it steels him and he turns up wanting to prove the FAW wrong and show Hughton he means business.

Got the feeling when he was called up for Wales that it was one of those call-ups made to try to commit a player who is eligible to play for more than one national side to theirs. He got 30 minutes in a couple of friendlies. Not sure he was ever seriously in contention for this summer.

I agree with you about Johnson. In the 2nd leg against Sunderland he also looked a bit lazy . Not sure if he was like that all season but if he is ONLY an offensive player then he won't cut it in a CH team where teamwork is the most important thing.

He’s only 20 years old and just finding his feet. I’m glad he’s not in the Wales squad as it means he’ll come back to start pre-season with us a little sooner.

The lad has had a fantastic season and been an enormous success. I don’t expect the team to hinge on his performances next season but I am expecting him to play a part and continue to progress. Really looking forward to watching him next season.

I don’t think it’s fair to say he’s lazy

There were a few occasions when his concentration slipped but, overall he put in a shift.
Both he and Rogers were starved of the ball by a poor midfield.
With regard to diving there was perhaps one occasion when he over did a fall but at least two occasions when the referee ignored clear fouls on him.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Brennan at Forest next season and I am confident that he will be a real asset to us.

Yes I’m Looking forward to seeing him too.
Lazy probably was unfair, it more he drifts out of games a little...
I think CH will want more from him in terms of work rate particularly off the ball, buts that’s not unreasonable or unachievable and will make him a better player
