It doesn’t stand up to even basic scrutiny.
So a tiny club, with minuscule resources and a small fan base used to the bottom end of the pyramid has modest success no L2/L1 playing with teenagers and you think that we should have a go?.

Quite apart from the large number of practical
Reasons it wouldn’t work here, have you thought what would happen when said team of kids got back to back spankings away for example at Blackburn and Middlesborough when they come up against the wily old foxes that manage those clubs and know exactly how to set up to neutralise and then eviserate a team of kids?. Fact is that far from “showing patience” the entitled fan base at Forest would turn on the team, manager and owner in the face of sustained negative results. How do you think Warnock will be feeling if Lincoln are promoted?-guaranteed 6 points thats how. There would be unhappiness at Forest in the stands in the press and on social Merida (like here). The Manager would be sacked at some point and we would be back to square one.
And god help us is we had a season like this one and those kids found themselves in the bottom 5 fighting for their lives against relegation. I wonder how the flowing, champagne football would fare then?.

I’m a dyed in the wool, on the deck, free flowing attacking football fan-thats one of the reasons I got into Forest when I was younger. I believe we will see it again one day but it will only come in the modern era with balance, and real patience, under a good manager, not one extreme approach or another which are doomed 98% of the time before they’ve even started

I agree, theres a fine line between success & failure in this league & compromising our defensive foundations for the sake of entertainment doesn't feel like a good plan.

Hughtons retained the lamouchi solidity, he's also evolved things going forward, working within the obvious limitations of out of form/injured players.

Seen nothing to suggest a few quality additions wouldn't give us a sustainable two way plan that's easier on the eye & more competitive.

This guy was born when his Dad was playing at Forest with Jim Brennan. Feels like he's named after two David Platt Forest signings.

He can't have hated his Forest teammate to think 'thats a nice name'.

Definitely a computer game generated sounding Forest player name.

I think he is named after Jim Brennan... Quite why I have no idea.

He's to us what Forster-Caskey probably is to Reading fans. A constant reminder of our early 2000s div two side.

If he helps us win promotion in the next few years, in a way we'll have David Platt to thank. The man will have delivered what he was appointed to do over twenty years earlier by setting off a chain of events that leads Forest back to the Premier League. Platt was a guy who could see the bigger picture.

In all competitions, the "not Good enough for NFFC" academy players have scored the following this season......

Grant 17 goals
Johnson 13 goals
Walker 8 goals
Brereton 7 goals

That's 45 goals in total. All 4 of those could have easily have fit into the same side together too.

We've scored 37 goals all season in the league.

Yeah but 30 of those goals have been in league one...

Which is fair enough.

But it does suggest that we may have misjudged the ability of some players to score goals.

Everyone was cock-sure Grabban & Taylor would have more than Walker & Brereton this year. Forest Oldies 0 - Forest ex-academy players 2

Blackburn scored 28 more goals than Forest this season. I need to see your working out before I'm convinced he would have scored more than Grabban had he played in the Forest team all season.

Yes but in context Grabban has scored more overall for us over the last few seasons and also your comparing this year shit with less shit. In order for us to get promoted we need great not less shit. So point taken we could have one of these as a squad player maybe but feck me they were never the answer.

Alf, I’d buy the thrust of your argument for Grant and Brennan but would simply point out that those goals were scored in L1, that grant was let go several years ago when it was clear he would be picking up crumbs in our midfield and that Brennan is coming back to us much improved.

The other 2 together have not managed to hit double figures each so by any striker metric cannot be considered to have had a great season...

I agree with valspoodle comments regarding his performances over the two legs against mediocre opposition, he will have a shock next season because the opposition in the championship is far better. I hope he can step up and show us all he can perform in a higher league that his unless his old man as not interfered and got him a move to the Premiership

He's a promising talent but the last thing we need to do is pile on pressure by expecting him to hit the ground running and be the answer to our creative problems, give him a full pre season with us and start off next season by playing him off the bench. See how he adapts and what he shows at this level and take it from there, ideally he'll show enough in the minutes he gets to eventually warrant a start but it should be well managed rather than rushed. The last thing we should do is put our hopes on a promising youngster who has barely any experience at this level. Our fans soon lose patience and can turn nasty on players who don't meet the unrealistic expectations we have a habit of setting (see Tyler Walker)

Not really impressed by Brennan at all over the two playoff games. Will he really be key for us next year?

Only time will tell but I am concerned about how much people are building him up.

I think the key thing is we give him match time, if he isn't going to get it based on pre-season, then loan him out again.

We should have always held onto Grant though. It was a big mistake letting him go.

I mean, we would have only had to play him regularly in our first team for 5 years & he may or may not been able to adapt to Championship football by then. Would have been useful if we were relegated to League One as well.

Read the first line of this, started getting wound up and planning my reply then read the second paragraph and had a little chuckle.

I agree with this, people are seeing his numbers and presuming a certain kind of player. The amount of times you see people say he is a fast winger on Twitter is weird, I don't get why people try to have an opinion when they are not informed enough to actually have one.
