I’ve a vague memory of Des Lyttle putting peak Zola in his pocket for 90 minutes in the 90s

Yup, Bruno was a fabulous man marker. Normally mild-mannered and gentlemanly Zola was ready to throttle him. He did the same with peak Giggs.

Always got time for Des, he scored the equaliser against Sunderland at Roker Park the season we both went down…….. meant I could show my face 🙂, I remember jumping the turnstiles that day with my young cousin 😂 I cracked his heed off the top of the frame as i slung him over, think the poor bugger was concussed the entire game

(FYI my pal was the turnstiles operator, i flatly refuse to give Sunderland a dime )

In that game, Bohinen was the choreographer, the maestro, the orchestra conductor.
Roy and Collymore were the lead dancers, the soloists.
The 3 of them could have played wearing blindfolds and still have found each other with the ball at will.
Ably assisted by Stone and Woan. Forest were so good that day that even the Wednesday fans were applauding (respect).

Nottingham Forest: Mark Crossley, Steve Chettle, Colin Cooper, Des Lyttle, Stuart Pearce, Lars Bohinen, David Phillips, Steve Stone, Ian Woan (Paul McGregor 75), Stan Collymore, Bryan Roy

Forest became the first team to score seven goals as an away side in the Premier League. This remained the biggest away victory in Premier League history until February 1999 when Forest themselves were on the wrong end of an 8-1 defeat from Man Utd. See my earlier post.

Nobody's mentioned Ian Storey Moore v Everton surprisingly although ISM always says Frank Wignall was MOM that day. (Not so) Slim Jim didn't have many good games but one, I think, at Stoke he was his old magical self
I refer the Honourable Gentleman to my thread starter, where I mention ISM for that performance against Everton. It was a costly game, as Joe Baker was brutally assaulted by Brian Labone early on, as Everton decided to cripple our stars rather than try and match them in football skill.

I think Harry Catterick told Labone to ‘nobble’ Baker-apparently Alan Ball sportingly came into the Forest
dressing room after the game and apologised.

I went to that match too,Bonfire-I wasn’t impressed to see Bryan Roy duck out of a challenge late in the game as we slid towards relegation.

One thing I used to like about Bryan Roy was that - in typical Dutch style - he did not shirk the physical side of the game and always looked up for s scrap.

Bohinen in that 7-1 Wed win was da bomb. Although Raddy was everywhere when he got his hat-trick against Udders too. We passed it around so much, and Raddy always seemed to get to the ball before every Udders defender. Class.
I remember Super Lars absolutely running the show when we beat Leicester 4-0 at home in 1994 and coming away thinking that was about as good a performance I’d ever seen from anyone (over 90 mins) in a Forest shirt. I bloody loved Bohinen.

Lars was a fantastic Player.

A man who was capable of running entire matches from midfield.

I - and many others - was gutted when Blackburn turned his head with a ridiculous wages offer.

I've had a good long think about this. So many memories.

After giving it a lot of thought, for me it has to be the Duncan McKenzie demolition of Manchester City.

Well,he chickened out right in front of me at Roker Park.
I remember being stuck in the corner of the Roker end ( next to the main stand) not many Forest fans made the trip, the writing was on the wall we were going down , poor game, one bright spot was I was home within a couple of minutes as I lived in Roker 🙂every cloud and all that, poor sods like your good self Cloughie had a canny run home

In recent years, considering the importance of the game, I'd go for Assombalonga versus Ipswich. He was unbelievable that day and he kept us up.

Guedioura against West Brom in that first home game of the season when he scored from the edge of the box and nearly scored from his own half is worth a shout too.

In terms of Bohinen, I remember against Malmo at home when we were seeing out the match, he had the ball in their corner flag for a about a minute and about 3 Malmo players could not get the ball off of him.
