Could have been much more too - and that was down to Brentford spurning chances as opposed to his saves.

Reckon he should probably knock football on the head at the end of the season, he'd make hell of a fisherman with the amount of experience he's getting pulling stuff out of nets.

We dodged a bullet with this one, I was CONVINCED he was the answer but then he went Southampton before we even got going and it's like.. ok?
Is it him or is it their defence, I cannot tell.

TBF their defence is as poor as I can remember from a Prem Team.
Mistake after mistake

We weren’t wrong

He has been Southampton’s best player by a country mile this season

He had a bad day yesterday but he is absolutely peppered every game

Yeah, don't think you can really blame him for Southampton's problems. He's still a good keeper and one of the few players in that Southampton squad with any genuine Premier League quality.

Moving to Southampton was however one of the worst career decisions I think I have ever seen. An absolutely baffling decision.

Bin VAR!
He’s a top keeper, and will be better for the extra practice he’s getting this year.

Being near the front of the TE, think I’ve seen the best ever save live and close up from the villa keeper and then yesterday one of the most bizarre where ramsdale threw it in his own net! Good job for him it was disallowed!

I have long said that we should stick with sels as despite some wanting us to upgrade in the summer. I backed sels, not because I saw him becoming as good as he has, but I thought he was a competent, steady keeper who has a few years left in him yet and I knew he’d be expensive to upgrade on. I always said he was as good as Henderson despite him costing a quarter of the fee and significantly less on wages.

However I still think ramsdale would have been a good buy for the money he went for in the end. £15-£18m for a 26 year old English keeper with England caps and a lot of prem experience is nothing really. I assumed he’d cost twice that.

Goalkeepers still don’t command the same money as outfielder players, unless the buying club is ManUre or Chelsea.
As for Ramsdale, I don’t consider he would be an upgrade on Sels.
He has contributed to a number of Southampton’s stupid goals conceded.
And he conceded all 3 on the same side yesterday - a weakness?

To be fair Martinez did similar, also from a Milenkovic header, just that one wasn't disallowed fortunately.

I was happy with Sels but his performances have been way better than I expected he was capable of.

We have to view it as a huge positive and use any of the money that we allocated to a goalkeeper towards other positions such as a striker/winger.

Yeah same.

Wasn't worried about starting the season with him but thought his place was more at risk than others if upgrades became available.

I also think the general standard of keeping in the PL has dropped off this year. Quite a few of the established keepers seem more prone to errors at the minute.

Was really, really poor yesterday. While he's been one of Southampton's better players, that doesn't really say a lot and he's conceded a lot of soft goals.

Be interesting to see where he goes from here. He's still pretty young for a keeper but the decision to go to Southampton could be very damaging for his career.

Definitely wouldn't take him ahead of Sels right now.
