It could probably have been so different however had Sandy Anderson's consortium taken control at that time.

Like one of the more prominant members of his group, Nigel Doughty, Anderson was a Forest season-ticket-holder with the best intentions, as opposed to the carpetbagger, Wray, and the tyre-kicker, Grant Bovey.
Clearly Otis,the Wray/Scholar takeover was a disaster for Forest(we still haven’t recovered).
However,we don’t know for sure that the Anderson group would have been a success either-given that it included
Nigel Doughty(God rest his soul),sadly, although a fan,he presided over our worst ever league finish.
As for the shareholders,I think it’s slightly unfair to tar them all with the same brush-I suspect quite a few
we’re just ordinary supporters who didn’t really know which deal was best for the club(although some undoubtedly
took the money and run).

I stopped going during that Wray/Scholar time half way through a season despite having a season ticket. I got fed up with having my weekends ruined by profiteering parasites.

I attended the FA Cup 3rd Round tie at home to Portsmouth that season in front of a paltry 10,000 City Ground
crowd(bolstered by around 3,000 Pompey fans).
After the 0-1 defeat, there was a crowd demonstration in the car park-I thought Scholar had shit himself as
a hoard of meatheads(excluding myself) charged towards his car as it sped towards the exit.

Anderson's deal was for all of the money from his offer to go straight into the club coffers Cloughie, rather than shareholders' pockets. It would have meant a considerable transfer kitty.

As I mentioned previously, a decent proportion of the shareholders fully supported the Anderson bid, though sadly not enough when it came to the final vote to outnumber the "club legend's" choice.

Unable to edit my post above to add that the treatment George Waterhouse received at that time for leading the objections against Wray's mob was shameful.

I don’t think the transfer kitty was a problem when Wray and Scholar originally took over,Otis-we spent plenty
of money to allow Bassett to assemble a promotion winning side(including £4.5m on Pierre Van Hooijdonk).
The problem was in the summer of 1998 when further significant investment was needed to secure our place in the
top flight(considerably more than the £3m creamed off by the shareholders).
I think the board realised they had bitten off more than they could chew, realised they couldn’t make a profit
due to it being a bottomless pit(and the failed share issue) and bailed out.

He’s played an absolutely massive part in our promotion, I was glad to see Marinakis thank him along with the other staff etc.

Also he was crying his eyes out it looked like after the second leg of the semi final so if that’s anything to go by the poor lad is probably still recovering from Sunday like the rest of us.

“The board realised they had bitten off more than they could chew”. Jesus. Well that’s ok then. It’s a big like hijacking a plane and realising you have no idea how to land it when you are mid air.
And never an apology to the real owners of the club-the fans after their wanton, clueless and ultimate pointless actions that trashed the club. Bastards.

That’s something else

Also didn’t realise how many Forest fans were sat with the Huddersfield fans up on that top corner, I couldn’t see from where I was.

I get goose pimples all over every time I see these bloody clips etc.

Just looked at a final Championship League table with Forest highlighted and 'P' beside the name. That set me off, too.

Is that Karembeu who gives his head a pat?

Said it in another thread, his resume is incredible for someone his age.
