Oh come on ALF, Sabri and Karanka were both decent managers and had we had a bit more luck with both of them we could have been promoted with both of them.
They were both the catalyst for the feel good factor at the ground and the real engagement with fans and the club which is down to Marinakis.

He did appoint Haughton too so you know not all good.
That backs my point up. Both decent managers, yet the club couldn't get their act together to get a top 6 finish out of either. I don't think that was luck, I think that was poor planning and Jan recruiting from those running the show. Murphs did it at his first attempt, and from as bad a starting position as you can get.

For me Murphs outclassed anything the Greeks did by a long shot.

I think right now is not the time to be falling out with the club and each other ( Lets do that on the politics thread ? )
We are in such a precarious position and yes that could be down to the club and the ownership.
We have 5 games left.
The fans have been amazing home and away since Sabri, it wasn't started under SC, he just made us believe a little bit more and reignited what had been started under Sabri.

Any protests will be counterproductive right now.
It will fill filter down to the players and the staff and we need less negativity right now not more.
The media want us to fail
Other clubs want us to fail
The Premiership want us to fail

I say fu-ck that - lets voice our concerns ( I have some too ) about the ownership after the final minute of the final game of the season.

Not to disagree but isn't that slightly skewed due to the shortness of his time with us? He had a perfect hit, but the bat was taken from him so we never could find out how the second one would be.

(And fwiw the my own take is that once he achieved promotion he'd worked himself out of his own depth. Victim of his own success if you like, but I don't think he was well equipped to take us further.)

True, but we can only go on what happened.

I mean, Collymore didn't have much longer here and was a flop at other places he went, but he'll likely always be in my top 3 Forest strikers.

Yes the season tickets have gone up but it was kind of expected with promotion and then staying in the league.

They are expensive it is the nature of the game and unfortunately for various economic reasons everything has become more expensive in the last 14 years and saying what is affordable to some is not the same for others.

You should see some of the prices for other clubs

£3000 for Fulham

We are 6th from bottom for last season and will probably be around the same next season or lowed depending on which clubs come up
Because 100% LIEcester and Leeds will be way more expensive than ours

Fair point, mine too, though at least we could see what Stan did. (I always thought he did pretty well at Liverpool too, despite them having him as a secondary channel running type - I'd need to check his output again).

Well you‘ve hit the nail on the head there; Fulham, as a London club, can „get away“ with charging three grand for a season ticket, because, London.

For those who aren‘t local to Nottingham, it is a significantly poorer area than much of London (and yes, that is stating the bleeding obvious) so whilst you can of course „rank“ Season Tickets by price, clubs like Spurs, the Arsenal, Fulham, Chelsea, and even Brentford, are operating in an economic climate that, within the UK, is almost on a different planet than Nottingham. And that isn‘t doing Nottingham down (God knows, I still love the old girl) but simple economic factors make it that the level of salary and disposable income will be much higher in London, even considering the higher cost of living there.

I don't know what fans of other clubs think of their owners, except in well-publicised cases, and don't really care. NFFC is my only concern in this area.

It seems that the committee era was same except the money was so small, comparatively, that we were concerned with the personalities of the chairman rather than the running of the club. We expected things to be pretty rubbish, so weren't that disappointed when they were.

Since the money came in (and I think that was the main reason the committee went) we've had some desperate owners, very few we can say, hand on heart, did well for the club, no matter if they loved the club or not. So EM joins a long list of people who just struggle to get it right at a club not used to success in this era. Whether we'll ever love him is a moot point, because for the moment, he's what we've got. Be happy we have an owner and a club. The rest might happen, but will we be happy even then? Only if we have success on the pitch I reckon is the answer.

Outside of the Marinakis debate, I'd be interested to know which teams fan's think they have good owners - I can't think of too many candidates (Luton perhaps given their journey, Brighton?).

Can't imagine the City fans are that keen on theirs despite the success they bought - you wouldn't be would you?

Genuine question - in the top two tiers who has 'good owners'?

Edit: and the clue they're probably arseholes has always been in the term 'billionaire owner'. You've got to be an tight fisted egomaniac f*** to get that far surely.
Oh you forgot the whiter than white Brentford they have the best everything apparently
Well bar there actual team
Or fans
Or stadium
Oh and a f***ing history

At the end of the day, it's just a matter of opinion really, as is almost everything on this forum. You have a different interpretation or view of what has happened at the club to what I do, which is fine and I genuinely respect that.

I don't believe in deriding anyone over their opinions, whether they are pro or anti Marinakis or somewhere inbetween (I reckon most people fall into this camp). Some people who have disagreed with me in this thread are people who I have a lot of time and respect for, and have presented their opinion excellently even if it isn't one I agree with. I have time and respect for anyone's opinion as long as it doesn't descend into petty insults, whether they agree with me or not.

This is clearly a topic where people have a range of different opinions, and I think everyone (regardless of their opinion) should be able to discuss and debate without having to worry about some of the behaviour we've seen in this thread.
We're definitely agree on that

On top of that if we gonna actually sort this out. Football players are paid far far far too much and pit clubs against each other and drives the cost of football up for everyone. The root cause is fans demand ambition, than owners have to pay to the hilt and lose money and get indebted. Than inevitably the cost goes up. Its simple mathematics, everyone is barking at the moon when complaining about the ownership. If the ownership were making absolute millions out of us Id be more upset at him. At the end of the day I feel sorry for Maranakis, get lambasted for not spending or lambasted for raising revenue.

I get all the emotional talk about fans not being able to afford it but I lack empathy becuase there is a lack of protest against the obscene costs of football wages.

A genuine question for everyone would you rather be back in the championship with the same ticket prices or the premier league with the newer ones? Cause I am interested to understand everyones virews here, becuase I understand and empathise in isolation that we all want cheaper prices. Hell I havent been able to go to a game since weve been in the prem. I would love it if we had more seats and lower ticket prices. However that will not be possible whilst spending 150 million on transfers. So what does everyone want? Cause people believe they can have it all when they cant.

Also I dont want footballers to be paupers I think 150K a week is plenty maybe even 200k salarey caps. I think these kids deserve big pay but at some point its get obscene. I also agree FIFA needs to implement something worldwide. I know that seems implausible but if that dosent change and we want cheaper ticket prices than the owner needs to start running us at a profit and that may well mean we are a championship club.

You'd probably get the biggest names going on strike for that pittance...
Yes you will but that would be ridicolous. 7,800,000 a year and its not enough. Thats double the price rise of tickets for all Forest fans......... Well not being funny than bring me the championship again with lower ticket prices. If that is the attitude of high level footy industry.

I’ve made it clear I think EM & co have dropped a bollock with the ST prices but I still think we have a good owner overall.

He’s still better than a lot of owners around even if he is a bit nuts IMO.
