I hope the opening ceremony features Diana Ross actually scoring her penalty this time, before performing a Psycho style celebration.
That or a shit ton of cool down breaks.i’m confused on some of these places, i’m pretty sure you can’t play in the summer in Kansas OR HOUSTON? Are we expecting another winter world cup?
That could set off a Chain Reaction...I hope the opening ceremony features Diana Ross actually scoring her penalty this time, before performing a Psycho style celebration.
Scotland probably won't qualifyIs this the one where everyone bar San Marino and St Kitts will be there, and 98% of the groups get into the next round?
Great stuff FIFA, well done.

Houston, Dallas and Atlanta all have retractable roofs. Kansas City was the only that surprised me. It's the oldest stadium in the bid by a lot. There is nothing covering any of the stands and it can be scorching in the summer. Mid-to-high 30s all week at the moment in KC with humidity. It's been speculated that Las Vegas and Phoenix (both very nice stadiums IMO) were ruled out because it's just too hot for spectators in the summer, even if the indoor stadiums would have been fine.
It is amazing to me that some of these new American stadiums are built for billions of dollars but seem to have fatal flaws. There was concerns that SoFi in LA was too narrow. The near-side corner flags/corners aren't visible on TV in Atlanta because of the angle of the stands. Surely that has to be fixed. There's huge glass windows in Dallas that cause blinding glare during certain times of the day. I think scheduling can fix that because I don't know how else they could resolve that one.
It's going to be interesting. Huge geographic spread, absurd tournament format, could have extreme heat and possibly air quality could be an issue.
Agreed.don’t get me f***ing started on Levi’s stadium in it south bay area for the 49ers. stadium is practically unreachable, parking is horrifically expensive and dumb, half the stadium bakes under the sun since there’s no roof and IT IS NOT IN SAN FRANCISCO.
that lost point isn’t that important, but it still pisses me off.
Agreed.
They should have used Ford Field in Motown; centrally located, plenty of reasonable parking and loads to do nearby.
Only downside is it’s in Detroit. Can’t have shit in Detroit.
Dead or Alive, you’re coming to Ford Field.
We used to stay in Ann Arbor when flying to Detroit. Used to stay in town, but they had a riot in 1967 and we moved hotels to steer clear of trouble. Arrived at the new hotel same time as the Pistons team. Golly, they were tall, but really nice guys. It's hell when you're talking to a group of guys and craning your neck to do it.Agreed.

Remember having an interesting discussion, after a few beers it must be admitted, with an American chap in Lefty O'Doul's on Union Square (I think, our hotel was on the other corner, if I remember) in San Francisco about cricket and baseball. I remember mentioning rounders and not being allowed to hit the batter, which resulted in a lively evening.don’t get me f***ing started on Levi’s stadium in it south bay area for the 49ers. stadium is practically unreachable, parking is horrifically expensive and dumb, half the stadium bakes under the sun since there’s no roof and IT IS NOT IN SAN FRANCISCO.
