What position do you think we will finish in the league this season?

as long as forest is so dependent on our sole striker to score all the goals, we will still struggle. The whole lot need to be put on shooting practice.

I think we'll finish 10th...based on:

1. Improving in the new formation we play.
2. Bedding in of key players such as Dominguez, Murillo and Sangare.
3. An upturn in injury issues. Awoniyi is back. Danilo and Felipe back in full training.
4. New signings in January. Primarily a forward to challenge Awoniyi.
5. All of the English clubs in Europe progressing to the next round.
6. Chelsea and Man u continuing to implode.
7. We are only 3 points off 10th, with most of our difficult away games played.
Love the optimism, but if we can’t win the easy home games then just where are the next 40 points going to come from?

1-4 are the reason we’re not winning the easy home games (yet).

5-6 will come into effect in the New Year.

7…we’re just about to end our tough run. Other teams haven’t had theirs yet.

I think we'll finish 14th. We're a team in transition - we won't always win the games we 'should' (like Luton at home) but will win enough to just about rise above the dogfight. And I'd be very happy with 14th (and to address the boring elephant in the room, I think EM will be satisfied with 14th).

Ive got us similar at 13th. Unlucky for some, but not for us!

Which sole striker? Awoniyi (3) or Wood (3)?
whoever plays, we only play with 1 striker anyway but every one needs to contribute goals, not depend just on our sole striker. Nobody we have are that prolific, elanga at least has hit the bar, scored 1 goal and worked the keeper, otherwise , we are quite blunt in attack.

Many (including me) felt that the win at Chelsea gave cause for optimism that we could
finish mid or slightly below mid-table this season.
I don’t feel as confident now-especially as as a struggling (for fitness) Awoniyi is the only
genuine Premier League standard striker in the club.
I now think we face another battle for survival (as Steve Sutton alluded to on Sunday) and that
we are likely to finish in the bottom 6.
Will we stay up? I feel confident that that we will finish above Sheffield United and Luton-with
a reasonable chance that we will finish above at least one of Burnley,Bournemouth
and Everton (especially if they get a points deduction).
Verdict-15/17th (if we hold our nerve and don’t do anything stupid……).

Hoping for higher but I’ll take seventeenth.

The key issue is to survive second season syndrome and build the club.

If we have to use a back five in some games to survive so be it.

This is how Brighton (and others) have progressed.

Our Owner‘s investment needs PL money to service debt, meet FFP requirements, and ensure player recruitment.

Supporters have to be realistic and accept consolidation and steady progress.

Said 16th in August, I'll stick by that.

Said „bend over, and bite the pillow“, and I will stick by that!

(hang on, this is the „What Position“ thread, yes?)

You could potentially finish 17th with 40 points or 30. As long as it's comfortable, I'd take it too. The concern is it doesn't really get any better, a couple of draws, a win, a couple of defeats, another draw, a couple more defeats, another win and we slowly getting sucked nearer the bottom.

This time last year, we were coming up to a purple patch, having had:

14 points after 17 games,
17 after 18,
20 after 19,
21 after 20,
24 after 21

Fail to win any of the next 2 home games and you are officially looking at a worse start than last year. To get to 24 points after 21 games you need 10 points from the next 5, highly unlikely.

Something's got to give one way or the other sooner or later and the decision will probably be made by the turn of the year.

Yes-but after the 21st game last season we amassed 3 points from the next 11 games and
stared relegation in the face.
It’s a long season.

I'll settle for staying in the PL.

The longer the better.

Sure, but the Jan window could likely be the catalyst for any change, so the lack of progress up till now is likely to be weighing heavy on the owner's mind.

Difficult to say obviously until the window is closed but hypothetically if the window shut this moment I'm going for 16th.

I think the very bottom of the league will be less competitive but I don't see how (as it stands) we've closed the gap on most of those that finished above us last season.

My bottom half...

11th West Ham
12th Bournemouth
13th Brentford
14th Palace
15th Everton
16th Forest
17th Burnley
18th Wolves
19th Sheffield United
20th Luton
I underestimated Wolves a bit but seems about right.

As things stand I think we'd be lucky to get 16th. There are probably 3 weaker teams than us in the league but I'm not sure there are 4.

I'm still not sure what we are.
If the new arrivals can play to the quality that people assured me they have when we signed them, we might be a few places better.
If we're going back to low-block counter attack (largely without Awoniyi), and trying to grind out results then we might be lucky to even get 16th.

And that's before I even look at the wildcard of potentially throwing even more new players into the mix during the transfer window.

This club is still a basket case.

I think we'll finish 5 points behind chelsea so probably a few places higher than we are now.

Things will come together soon enough.

I think it depends on a couple variables now.
One, is whether Steve is still the manager and the other is whether we can find put a good goalscorer out on the pitch, be it a fit Awoniyi or a replacement.

If the answer to both is yes, like 12th-13th.
If the answer to one is yes, 15th-16th.
If the answer to both is no, 18th and relegated.
