What position do you think we will finish in the league this season?

14th-16th imo.
I wonder who the manager will be at the end of the season.
Not sure I have much faith that its Cooper, but I hope it is.
I agree with all of this post.

See where we are after ten games and I think we will then have a good idea how we will end the season.

If Cooper survives the first 2 months he will survive the season, I am sure of that.

There is a lot on those first few home games, come out of them with a good points tally then I think we will have a successful season. But knowing Forest we will lose those games and manage to beat Chelsea & Man United away.

Difficult to say obviously until the window is closed but hypothetically if the window shut this moment I'm going for 16th.

I think the very bottom of the league will be less competitive but I don't see how (as it stands) we've closed the gap on most of those that finished above us last season.

My bottom half...

11th West Ham
12th Bournemouth
13th Brentford
14th Palace
15th Everton
16th Forest
17th Burnley
18th Wolves
19th Sheffield United
20th Luton

Sort of how I see it.

Maybe move a couple of those teams one or two places either way but bottom three looks right to me.

Think Luton and Sheff Utd will finish with <30 points, then whoever finishes 3rd from bottom getting around 34 or 35.

As long as we get as many points as last season, we'll be fine.

With the squad as it currently stands, 18th or 17th. Coin flip between us and Wolves for that last relegation spot IMO. With how brutal our early away fixtures are, those early home games are key.

3 or 4 good signings before the window closes (and retaining our better players such as Johnson) can change all that though.

We won't be getting many points on the board early on which will either sap confidence or galvanise.

However , we won two games out of the first three in 1998 but didn't win again for 19 matches and finished rock bottom...

It's also worth noting a huge amount will depend on injuries. If we have a better record this season you can add a few places on any prediction.

I don't think it's put fully into context how many obstacles we had last season with so many new players & so many injuries, we shouldn't have stayed up on paper. Just having none of those obstacles in place would give us a much better platform than last season even whilst standing still.

I think a lot will also depend on team spirit. So getting a few players out is also key for harmony.

Agree that injuries and the sheer amount of new players to bed in made last season a lot more difficult.

I do think that tough looking start with those brutal away fixtures (putting a lot of pressure on those early home fixtures) and AFCON are going to have a big impact on our season though. It's going to be another tough old slog I reckon, particularly without a few more key additions before the window closes.

Still, a lot can change in the next few weeks. A win at home to Sheffield United and some good additions (preferably ones not going to AFCON, if possible) before the window closes can change the picture quite significantly.

It'll always be a tough old slog but starts/end to the season are pretty irrelevant over the entire season. Everyone plays everyone twice at the end of it and if teams have good starts then a tough run will only be around the corner.

And as for AFCON, in an absolutely worst case scenario we will have around 4 players miss 2 games (Ivory Coast v Senegal final). If Ivory Coast, Senegal or Nigeria go out before the semi final then they won't miss a game at all I believe. It won't have as much as an impact as people think (and one of those games will be against Arsenal which you could consider a free hit anyway).
