Tottenham v Bolton

Era Vulgaris

Youth Team
Just got back home now. Made the journey down with my mate, as whoever tends to listen to my pointless rants, you'd probably know I often look out for Bolton results, as does he, so we both made the trip down.

The game kicked off quite well, the Bolton fans were in good voice, even more so when we scored in the opening minutes. We were all swiftly silenced when Spurs equalised. The game really picked up as well after that, end to end stuff.

Anyway, Spurs were on the attack to our end and the ball went out of play, when suddenly I saw Muamba on the floor. I thought he went over on his foot awkwardly or something, but the urgency of the players signals to the dugout said otherwise. When the stretcher was rushed over, we were all thinking 'shit... this could be serious'. I could see his body convulsing which really scared me. What really hit home was the sight of the medics giving him CPR. You couldn't see Muamba, but you could tell by the movement.

The entire stadium was chanting him on, it was really something.

So after what felt like hours, he was carried off with a round of applause, followed by absolute silence. We all skulked out of White Hart Lane silently and onto the train.

It's been a f***ing surreal evening and if I'm honest I'm still in a bit of shock.

I really hope he pulls through.

I was there too, although I was with the spurs fans.

It was such a surreal and horrifying thing to witness at a football match, and I still can't get the images out of my head.

I think it was Kyle Walker's tweet that I concur with the most; "Doesn't matter who you support..Doesn't matter if you aren't a football fan. Doesn't matter if you aren't religious..Pray for Fabrice Muamba"

Has he singed yet?
I understand people are concerned, but why are flowers being laid both at the Reebok and at the hospital he's at? He isn't dead!

News reports also say his heart stopped at 6.11 and wasn't restarted until 8pm.

Two hours.

:(

With the best will in the world, CPR isn't going to keep your brain fully fuelled for that length of time.

This just sounds more and more awful the more I read of it.

I'm sat with a Bolton fan watching the cup football. He's not entirely with it this afternoon.

It's awful. Unfortunately it won't just be the brain that may have been effected. His other vital organs may have been damaged too.

It does make you think seriously how short life can be and how your life can change so dramatically. I fear the worse for this young man but sincerely hope the doctors can work their magic.

Where is it documented that his heart stopped for 2 hours? Seems a little hard to believe unless it was something done medically rather than something that happened, kind of like when they induce coma to stop pain, though even then I don't think they can just turn your heart off.

As with most things I think there's a bit of rumour milling involved.

Yep, they wouldn't still be trying to resuscitate someone 2 hours after their heart had stopped.

No wonder my post count..
Liverpool fans chanting his name at the Stoke game. There's been plenty of reasons this season to hate football but then you just get reminded how united everyone can be when one of your own needs help.

Just read it, and it didn't stop for two hours, it just want beating on its own for two hours which is a world of difference.

Yep, there's still a load of oxygen in the blood a long time after the heart stops, if you can keep it moving around. That's why they say you don't need to do mouth to mouth any more, because there's enough oxygen left for quite a while, so you can just concentrate on getting it pumped to the brain etc.

BBC say he's now breathing on his own and can recognise family, so things really are getting better thankfully.

Brilliant news I can't believe it. I'm not religious, but the fact that he's responding and talking is a f***ing miracle.
