The Relegation Dogfight 24/25

As requested, here is the next edition of the Relegation Dogfight!

Please feel free to use this thread to discuss other teams transfer dealings, ins and outs and who's going down! My thoughts and very early prediction:

Discounting the soulless 6,

Aston Villa: Europe for them so more games but obvious quality and they will build so not involved,

Bournemouth: A tricky one, I think Iraola keeps them up, they've got some good players and always are decent at home. I have heard whispers that FFP issues may be looming though,

Brentford: I think they will do similar to this year, i'm hoping Frank goes as he is the difference between survival and relegation for them,

Brighton: You'd think they've got too much quality to survive but a bit of uncertainty surrounding them at the moment, had a horrible 2024

Crystal Palace: Think they will be ok, looked good once they got going under Glasner

Everton: Again, mid-table under Dyche but will they be f****** financially? Would be funny to see them go down and the new stadium opens in the Championship

Fulham: Under Marco Silva, they won't go down, similar to Brentford in that they stay up whilst that manager is there

Ipswich: I had the pleasure of watching Ipswich a lot last season as we have a family connection with them. I want them to survive but I honestly have to say, i've never seen a team so ill-equipped to survive style wise, they are so open. I guess they could do what Bournemouth did when they first came up under Howe and try and outscore teams but i'm not sure. Also heard they only have up to 30m to spend because of FFP?

Leicester: FFP issues and can't buy, added to a points deduction, I think they will be competitive but finish below us?

Newcastle: Too much quality, not involved

Forest (The good guys): Hard to call, I think personally we WILL be involved again, I think if we keep the current side together including Nuno we should be ok but there are a few issues, need to sort out the defence, set pieces and also get the balance right in midfield, could be anywhere from 10th - 19th I think.

Southampton: I don't think they will stay up under Martin's football, I see similarities with Burnley

West Ham: Interesting one, were relying on the Paqueta sale for funds to buy, but that aint happening. Though, Lopetegui is a good manager, tricky, I think lower mid table

Wolves: Controversial, but I think they're quite rubbish, my dark horses to go down

Prediction:
Newcastle
Villa
Palace
Brighton
Bournemouth
Fulham
Everton
Brentford
West Ham
Forest
Wolves
Southampton
Leicester
Ipswich

What do you guys think?

The 3 promoted sides will definitely be in the mix, in the case of Leics and Southampton they are weaker than the sides which came down 2 years ago and back then Ipswich were in L1. I guess Luton still had some players who had come up through the leagues with them and didn't look too out of place but it was the PL players like Townsend and Barkley who made the difference for them. Ipswich don't have anyone like that and won't have the PSR capability to spend. In reality they are probably similar in terms of weakness to Sheff U, Burnley, Luton if a bit stronger.

Highly likely us and Everton will be down there again because of PSR.

The rest depends on what business they do. Iraola did a good job at Bournemouth after a bad start, could he be tempted by other jobs? De Zerbi has already gone - until now their succession planning has worked, but this doesn't always carry on. Much will depend on who comes in. Likewise if Brentford do lose betfair365 as expected, who they have to replace him.

I don't think we'll see the likes of Villa, Fulham, West Ham or Wolves struggling, they are moving away from that and have good managers. We can probably put Palace in there too.

I think it will be pretty tight next season. In my opinion Brentford, Brighton, Wolves, West Ham, Everton, Fulham, Ipswich, Southampton & Leicester will all be average at best.
From what I saw when it clicked under Nuno I think we can finish above all of those teams and battle it out with Bournemouth & Palace for 9th, 10th & 11th.

We need to hold out for 1 more season. Get ourselves on an even footing with the rest of the league finance wise.
dont sell anyone essential, Take a few points hit if we have to but hopefully we can get rid of the extra weight pre ffp time limit and avoid it that way.
we stand more chance of staying up if we are 5 points better than the teams coming up than if we sell our better players and drag ourselves down to their level.

same 3 to go down that came up please with an even worse combined points total than this season would be lovely!

McKenna is set to stay at Ipswich, which I imagine will spice things up a bit down at the bottom.
Good news IMHO, I suspect they expect to get relegated and are tying up a half decent manager longer term if anyone else wants him, plus they want him in the Championship
