The Mood

You didn't get the E mail explainiing we will not go down because there are so many teams far worse than us.
It is harder to get relegated than to survive this season, Everton even with the 8 point deduction are 4 points ahead of us, any other season we'd be buried by now.

I can easily envisage these guys taking it down to goal difference on the final day. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Akin to how imagine someone feels as a victim of 'gaslighting'. All this bollox the club is throwing out about officials is being used to distract from the inherent failings and a catalogue of piss-poor decisions. The transfer policy being the best example, followed closely by the recent predatory behaviour towards the clubs most loyal fans.

If we go down it ain't got f***-all to do with officiating and everything to do with reason being sidelined for one man's vanity.

Since I started following Forest I've lived through a more seasons outside the top division than in it, more hard times than good times. Today feels like one of the worst to me since whichever way you look, on or off the pitch, and for whatever reasons, it's simply not fun right now.

Neco Williams' Sky post-match interview gave "The Mood" better than any words I can write. I don't simply mean on the VAR point (personally I don't think he was giving a party line, I believe it came straight from his heart) but that he looked mentally out for the count. I really felt for him since in my view his improvement has been one of the better memories of this season. But all around us we've got ticket price hikes, defensive frailties, FFP, our PR strategy, whatever, and it seemed to me that how he looked summed up, well, everything really.

I still think we'll stay up by the skin of our teeth but that's more due to faith than logic. COYR...please?

I don't necessarily feel the same way but I'm certainly adjacent.

While this isn't a Fawaz-style Circus, Marinakis is still a clown, rich but still defined by the tragic capers of the man-baby fan-owner.

I'll keep saying this, if we go down this season it's because of FFP; not football, not refs, not VAR. We're in a FFP mess because of the overexcited recruitment process that has defined his ownership.

It's a mix of things isn't it of which that what you've said is one, but we can't overlook the decisions against us either - it's probably cost us net 10+ points over the course of the season.

They're different issues.

They might have acted as a counterweight to the FFP issues, but the primary and sole reason we'll go down will be FFP.

If we got all 4pts back - which we won't - not one of the clubs below us could catch us.

I'll keep cleaving this issue from everything else.

Curiously I feel in a much better mood than I was this morning. I wonder if it has anything to do with going out and mowing the lawn?

I'm still raging over the passive, lazy **** we saw yesterday.

While the posts were understandable if potentially ill-advised, that performance was unforgiveable from professionals under the circumstances.

Our PL future is potentially moving the critical column next week and although the next one will not define our future, it will surely indicate the level of effort we're likely to witness.

In all seriousness, supporting Forest is bad for my health. Doesn't matter how often wifey tell's me to 'not let it bother you' it does, it really does, and I can genuinely say it manifests itself both mentally and physically.
So yeah, keeping on topic to this thread, the mood is shit and getting shitter.
But like smoking and the known, tangible health detriments, just don't seem to be able to give it up.
I f****** hate you sometimes NFFC.

I should be on my computer now, battling for a Man City ticket. I’ve decided that I’m not going to bother trying for Man City or Chelsea tickets. I just don’t see the point any more. Our fate has already been decided, and what kind of backlash can we expect from referees now? What ‘fighting spirit’ is there in the team, if that’s the best they could do yesterday?

I’ll spend the £84 on something else.
I have improved my mood considerably by treating myself to 6 pairs of the F1 model of knitting needles, made out of carbon fibre. Am looking forward to the postie bringing them in a couple of days.

Being on house arrest post surgery means I am cheered up by the most idiotic things. 😛😜

Carbon fibre knitting needles?

What a time to be alive!

In other news, my new Adidas will be with me on Thursday, courtesy of the Deutsche Post. I am quite looking forward to that, more so than looking forward to Forest‘s next match, anyway.

The highs are very high, and the lows are very low. There's not much else like it, which is part of the appeal I think.

Mood? f***ing awful.

Watching our big top of a boardroom whipping the fans into a frenzy against the PGMOL to distract from their own repeated failings makes me feel a little sick.

If we go down it's poor performances and the simple fact that we breached FFP.

This is the worst bottom three in the PL in living memory and yet we have been dragged down into it due to a four point deduction.

Honestly. We deserve to go down. I hope we don't, but we absolutely deserve it.

I actually thought of another analogy that perfectly sums up my current apathy to the Premier League; that magnificent piece of brilliant cinema featuring Paul Newman, The Hustler.

Newman plays „Fast“ Eddie Felson, a pool-hustler whose nemesis is the legendary Minnesota Fats, played by Jackie Gleason; the climax of the movie is a match between the two men, when „Fast“ Eddie defeats „Fats“, so comprehensively that the latter just gives up, „I can’t beat you, Eddie“, and then „Fast“ Eddie realises it was all a bit worthless at the end of it.

Because, what’s the point, if you can’t be competitive?

Well, that's another movie to not watch... what happened to "SPOILER ALERT"?

My brother in Christ, it came out in 1961.

Surely you’ve seen it by now? I mean, you’d have been a teenager when it came out, no?

Cheer up, everyone. It's lining up perfectly for us to relegate Sheffield United and secure our survival on the same day.
Almost impossible for us to achieve that as would require us to beat Chelsea and then Sheff Utd whilst Luton lose to both Wolves and then Everton.

It'll go down to the final day.

We play them before Chelsea. And I'm factoring in us getting two points back on the PSR appeal to make my fantasy viable.
Sorry meant Man City.
