The Mood

Week before the play off final I had 2 seperate conversations with Huddersfield season ticket holders. I thought they were both just covering their arses when separately they both said they could take it or leave it getting promoted again. Hoping not to get battered most weeks, crap reffing, stupid kick off times. Throw in var and PSR and they might have had a point!
I had a similar conversation with some Stoke fans.

There seems to be a lot of mood going around.

Currently in a foetal position in the corner, rocking back and forth muttering 'waited 23 years, enjoying every minute..'.
To be fair,I expected this shite as I walked away from Wembley 2 years ago.
To repeat-the Premier League is a contrived competition (and that’s not sour grapes because Forest
aren’t really good enough to be there-on or off the pitch).

I don't believe that the Premierleague is corrupt, if I'm honest. That word just gets banded around a lot now and it always makes me laugh when you see a Liverpool or a United say it as well, or Everton thinking the Premierleague want them out of the league for some unknown reason. That bent referee that Anderlecht bought was corrupt. This ain't that, it's more Roger Milford than Emilio Guruceta Muro.

I just think that for the most part, the referees are quite frustratingly incompetent and absent the individual quality to overcome poor decisions, you'll end up getting done over by them. VAR for me, it was meant to be a tool to assist referees make important decision but it just increases the scrutiny on every decision now.

To a degree, there is a bias for the top six but it's because the top six are the teams that bring the money into the league. They get the most coverage so every decision involving them is under more scrunity.

There's some decent referees out there but PGMOL is more of a mess than this PSR bollocks.
What I think does get lost in the mix though, is we were very poor today. Regardless of them penalties, there were no other points of contention.

The cynic in me thinks that the club over-reacted on purpose regarding this, because they knew if everyone got their pitchforks out for the referees, they'd quietly forget about the ticket fiasco and for the most part, that has worked. No one is talking about tickets are they?

For me whether there is straight out intentional corruption or not is a moot point.

Some of the officiating has been so incompetent it is verging on the corrupt.

The club's staement was the wrong thing t focus on - they should be focusing on how to improve us on the pitch (and, boy, do we need that). But fans have every right to point out the incompetence.

Would Liverpool, United or City be denied the 3 (arguably 4) penalties we were today?

And therein lies the corruption. Money might not be changing hands (probably) but there's a clear organisation-wide agenda to punish different clubs by different rules, for overall financial gain to said organisation.

I just feel sad and want this season to be over. It’s been torture most of the way through and I can’t wait to see the back of it. I’ll be delighted to start fresh in August, and if I’m honest, after today, I’m not sure I mind whether that’s in the Premier League or the Championship. Last week I said anyone talking like that is lying or an idiot but today sucked the life out of me.

I said this kind of thing long before we were in such a position to return to the Premier League. You do want to be at the top table playing the best, but at the same time you know that you are going to be stuck in a perpetual position of battling over the crumbs left after the richest clubs have taken the entire pie.

Yes-I’m afraid the likes of Forest are cannon fodder for the big boys.
It’s such a shame football (and other sports) have been ruined by greed and money.

I'm in a similar court to several posters on here. I'm not really bothered which league we are in as long as we have a club to support.

I suppose some will value the prestige of the Prem, some will like seeing super-stars of world football humiliate our team and some will just go because that's what they do on a Saturday (or Friday, or Sunday, or Monday or any other day really).

I can't get a ticket or travel about the country these days, so the actual opposition matters little, just that we have a game to follow wherever or whoever it's against.

I’m certainly not bothered whether we’re in the premier league or not if not calling out obvious bullshit like today’s refereeing decisions is the price of admission.

Pointing out we didn’t play especially well is missing the point and completely negates the demoralising effect it has to have on the players.

Just back home.

My mood is unusually black.

We had a full week to prepare for a crucial game - we started slow with little shape, played in front of Everton for the first half. No urgency against a team that was hammered a few days ago.

Of course we had three disgraceful decisions today but too often away from home we don’t show enough fight.

If money was no object (unfortunately I realise it is) I’d love us to win the Championship next year and then refuse our place in the Premier League.

I've been back an hour and have just posted similar in the matchday thread.
My mood has improved though as I've just realised that's my last away game this season.

Lucky for some, I've got my Sheff Utd tickets sorted already. Looking forward to that must win game...

tonight I feel somewhat similar to how i did on the fateful day Solskjær waltzed onto the pitch and made a tit out of us.
It was after that game i lost that loving feeling for our wonderfull club and took a few years off from having anything to do with us.

Except this time, it's not so much the players but the running of the league, the awful reffing decisions, and the circus surrounding us.

I still think we will stay up but i dunno if i can be arsed with another season like this next year though. It's not good to feel so pissed off after every match :(
