When is a Euro Super League not a Euro Super League? When it's a Euro Unify League of course. That's right, Unify, not Super. It's completely different.

Greed. Not long now till games are hosted abroad. Times changed to follow the money in again or American markets and the whole shit show implodes in corruption and greed. Hope everyone tells them to bollocks, although a part of me would rather this than the absurd champions league format at the minute.

An absolutely brilliant piece from Sid Lowe in today‘s Observer, where he interviews Jesus Navas, who retires this weekend after 982 professional games:

I always like watching Navas, a brilliant player.

Atalanta, who've never won Serie A before, are top of the table at Christmas.

Following on from their Europa League success and after seeing Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga last season, not to mention Forest doing so well this season, it's great to keep hearing these underdog stories.

I wonder if that means to some degree FFP is working? I always assumed it was just a way to keep the rich richer and the poor poor, as I assume did the big clubs, but maybe it's having an impact?

No it's failed because it's a tool to stop those teams doing what they are doing

Yup. The big clubs in Italy are just making poor decisions, or are badly run. Atalanta and Leverkusen are well run and are making good decisions, just like Forest.

No one will challenge PSG in France and Bayern are back to walking the Bundesliga again.

Fortunately Simeone is working his magic again in Spain so the two horse race does at least have another challenger once more. Good move for Conor Gallagher IMHO.

FFP will see the top six remain in control in England. There's only so far being smart can get you in the cases of Forest and Bournemouth. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal still look a class above. As many have said on other threads: both City and United are suffering from bad planning and shocking decisions. Unfortunately both will be back eventually, their financial strength will see to that.

Only Juve have any money in Italy. Milan are a 'project' and are actively recruiting for a scudetto push in 3 or 4 years time whilst trimming the wages. Inter are surviving on free transfers and are mostly skint. Napoli have chucked a bit of cash about but as with all Conte teams that'll bite them in the arse when they run out.

Makes for an interesting title race though.6 points between the top four and six points between 20th and 13th for the relegation spots.

Absolutely. He deserves a lot more credit for the work he's done at Atletico. Top manager.

Mourinho & especially Simeone are my favourite managers. I just hugely admire coaches that teach teams to defend properly & seeing Forest look like Atletico Madrid at the moment is just a dream to me.

I think that Atletico side with Godin that got to 2 champions league finals has gotta be one of my favourite ever sides because they just did not give a toss what everyone else was doing at the time and rattled absolutely everyone

Need to see Jose at Everton just for shits and giggles at this point.

If you don’t like El Cholo then you can’t really call yourself a football fan.

He is clearly one of the best coaches if not the best in the modern game. Unlike Pep wherever he's been, he has managed to build that team himself, and all whilst their city rivals get more attention. Slot at Liverpool has done well this season but it's taking Klopp's team which was actually not particularly successful in terms of trophies. And someone like Mourinho can only stay a few years. Simeone has managed to achieve and sustain top finishes in pretty much every season he has had, with a side which was mid table before him.

I am not Beckham's greatest fan by all accounts, and coldly suspect the decision was correct, but I suspect a lot of people still think he's a bit of a smunt for his role in "that" red card in WC 98, his reaction made it inevitable it would be a red card even though the initial contact probably deserved it anyway.

Built the team in his own image to be fair. Solid, uncompromising, and, efficient.

When he brought an Atlético side over to Stuttgart to play a preseason friendly a few years back, he was happy to mingle with the fans after the game and I got to shake his hand.

A proper gentleman, but not the kind you’d want to meet in a dark alley as he still looks absolute nails 😂

A colleague of mine (a history teacher) had the dubious pleasure of teaching the rise and reign of Mussolini to his great granddaughter.

Who it turns out was (and probably still is ) a delightful young lady.

@chris the mod

Based on our current form how do you reckon we would do against the top Bundesliga sides?
