I didn’t realise until this morning how much trouble they were in at the start of last season, the lad has done marvellous it has to be said.

They were bottom at one stage, and still in the drop zone when Xabi took over.

To say he’s done a decent job - with the bulk of the same squad - is an understatement.

I once refereed a game. At Imber Court when I worked in Scotland Yard and I must say if anyone knows how to circumvent a rule, it's a copper.

However, I survived, possibly because my team were one of the contestants (I was 'volunteered' to ref because the real guy hadn't turned up), but I have to admit, I allowed many foul throws, players not retreating ten yards at free kicks etc.

When I was playing a team of cops was in my division and they were absolute pricks to play against. Dirty as f***.

TNT commentators are making it sound like West Ham are making it really difficult for Leverkusen to score but the old Polish man in goal has pulled off two good saves where one of them Frimpong should've been on the end of the deflection.
