The demise of Ruud van Nistelrooij’s Leicester City

Leicester needed a firefighter, not someone without any managerial experience whatsoever.

The thing that makes the decision look even more barmy is that Steve Cooper had experience fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League, and was successful in that relegation battle.

When Cooper left, Leicester had taken 10 points from 12 games and were in 16th place. 0.83 points per game ratio.

Since Cooper left, Leicester have taken 4 points from 8 games and are in 19th place. 0.50 points per game ratio.

That's what you get for letting player power and toxic fans rule.

Sacking a manager that's proven capable of navigating relegation fights with an under equipped squad, as an under equipped squad facing a relegation fight was the mistake, hiring RVN was the second biggest mistake

It served no purpose other than satisfying a fan base of short sighted idiots, who are now no longer satisfied
In fairness to them, the reports all said that the players revolted on Cooper. His position was untenable from that point on.

I wouldn't put it down to an unreasonable board. More the players being dicks.

Players haven't helped, and it was that which ultimately made the position untenable, but absolutely don't let the fans off the hook for their role.

It was the fans that refused to accept the appointment literally from day one and were looking for any excuse to stick the knife in. The fans created the atmosphere where the players felt comfortable undermining the manager knowing they'd not get any real blowback or blame - because the fate had already been decided and the blame had already been apportioned before the first training session even started.

I'm struggling to come up with an example of a club where the fans themselves are so directly and primarily responsible for the failure of their own club. Even when we were laughing at Derby, it was because their fanbase were passive and/or in denial while their club collapsed around them. Leicester fans have actively contributed to this situation, perhaps more than any other group.

They need a turn around very quickly if there is any truth to them falling foul of PSR rules again. I can see another managerial change in the not too distant future.

Yep. This is on Steptoe and the fans.

Shot themselves in the foot.

Steptoe.
Was an excellent forward scoring for the fun of it, now a shadow of that person who somehow has a big say in the club for some unknown reason.

The club is wank, players the same with a manager who may one day be good but is trying and failing to emulate the skills of Steve Cooper.

They are in the financial shite, the excuses have run out and will be docked points this year.

Jog on Fester, your happy days are long over, but they will still have the biggest internet activity known to mankind according to the dipping fans associated with their club.

You dug your own hole, so make sure Vardy has a place in it as he alone started to dig.

I rest my case your Honour.

I don’t think there will ever be a more satisfying/deserved relegation.

Following up with a relegation to League One would be nice..

Leicester could have used the tragic death of their owner, who clearly loved the club and the city, as a rallying point to unite the club.
Instead the owner’s son, with the added COVID hit to the main business, has displayed a less than committed involvement in the club.

Leicester were clearly punching above their weight (as were Forest with Clough) and a decline is always likely
if the main man leaves the club or loses interest for whatever reason.
Jack Walker at Blackburn comes to mind.

Wherever we finish we need to make sure we don't do a Leicester and actyally build on the success.

Steptoe has had a hand in three managers being sacked. He has Top's ear it beggars belief any manager would go there knowing he will undermine them if you fall out with him.

His misses is a miserable shit too. See her all the time, face like a smacked arse on a wet weekend. He went into a local pub recently for some food, gave it the "don't you know who I am " what a twat.

Foxes talk is like LTLF gold without any sense of irony:

"The only thing Cooper had going for him was luck and he's used it all up for the season gaining 10 points in 12 games. Considering the injuries and run of games 4 points from 7 for Ruud isn't that bad."

Someone needs to check the water supply in the Leicestershire region.
