The 24/25 - Finish and Points Prediction Thread

I think a better defense with some big boys in there we will not drop as many points as last season, also if Nuno gets who he wants we will see a more aggressive forward minded football, he has already proved to me that he can do this.

No PSR BS to worry about, Everton with a possible points deduction and the bin dippers looking at a big hit will mean we will not be in a relegation battle this time around. The three promoted teams will all struggle, like most who get promotion.

I think 14th spot is totally possible, with a bit of luck 12th. We need to get 3 points against Bournemouth right away to give us the belief that we can can progress from last year, confidence would be right up there after beating Southampton too :)

Some folks are too used to forest being sh*t that it's easier for people to expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised when it turned out otherwise.
Nuno knows who and what he needs without playing favorites whereas cooper stuck too long with calamity joe. Forest weak in the penalty box for corners and freekicks ? A 6 ft 8' keeper and a 6 ft 5' bruiser should solve that issue.

Things that ruined last season:

- Another chaotic transfer window/pre-season
- Breakdown in relationship between SC and EM
- Inability to defend set pieces
- Poor goalkeepers
- 1st choice striker injured for most of the season
- Terrible officiating
- AFCON
- PSR uncertainty/points deduction

Feels like we have addressed or are addressing most of these issues (apart from officiating - we’ll still get bad decisions next season. Hopefully they’ll even out a bit more.)

Assuming the new GK and a unit of a central defender can sort out set pieces, the biggest issue still to resolve is up front.

Confident of 40+ points and a more relaxed end to the season.

The only way we finish higher than 17th is by finishing above teams like Bournemouth and Fulham who have "elevated themselves to the next level". And in doing so, demoting them from that higher level.

Not at all. I think we definitely can finish above them.

My point was that the clubs we are most likely to finish above are the ones you are saying have moved to the next level.

Head says 17th and survival would be ok (though that might involve a few weeks/months of panic - and we just want a season without that).

Heart says we could be dark horses and finish close to 10th.

Too early to say at this point - imagine it'll be another slog but hopefully slightly less of one, and that come end of the window we are actually quite positive about our chances... perhaps over optimistically so. I'll go 16th now.

I see the Supercomputer prediction places us in 18th place with 32 PTS and relegated.

Oh no!

That's it then.

I'll throw in one other factor that's not been mooted - if we are looking like we're struggling and battling in that bottom third to avoid the drop then Nuno's a goner - what could a change in manager do to the season.... it's anyone's guess

12th.

Everyone has us to go down. We're an easy pick - struggled last season. etc. But we'll surprise a few I think, and have a bit of a better time with things. A few winning runs here and there to rack up points that will steer us into safer waters.

Would take 17th again tbh, however, after the investment we've made in the last 2 years we need to start looking at around 15th at a minimum.

I assume the super computer did not factor in Leicester getting a points deduction of 6-8 points and Southampton will try and play football and get smashed most weeks.

I think we will get 40+ points the 3 promoted teams will go down. Last season showed the difference is bigger than it has ever been. Ipswich play open football and often their games were just a case of who can score last in the Championship. I do not see that working in this league.

In reality we earned 36 points while having no EPL level keeper for half the season, VAR costing us more than a few points, we lost 8 games I think 3-2, AFCON hurt us and the FFP charge I feel really hurt the squad Nuno said as much.

Keep Big T fit for even half the season having an actual EPL quality keeper for a full season and a much more solid defence I think we will be more than fine, hopefully we are safe by the middle of April.

What I would say is that aside from the 3 promoted clubs, I can't see any other clubs that particularly stand out as relegation candidates. That's a concern to be fair, and I would temper my expectations as a result.

I'll go 16th at the moment. If we sign a striker that will walk into the team then I'd up that by a few places.

The new When Saturday Comes includes the usual season preview where they average the predictions from each of their fan correspondents in each division. They have us finishing 18th, one place below Leicester and only above the other two promoted teams. It feels as though a lot of people see that we’ve struggled against relegation for two seasons and just assume we will again without looking at the context (points deduction, ridiculous refereeing/VAR decisions, etc, hugely ambitious owner strengthening the squad, etc). I expect that’s pretty much how we’re seen nationally by people who don’t get to hear much about clubs outside the Sky 6. It’d be nice to prove them all wrong.
