Apparently they've bid £6.5m for Deeney too... £12m+ on half decent Championship strikers is nuts. Or are they planning ahead for the 2015/2016?

Ulloa was £8m, rising to £10m potentially, so it's more like £15m-17.5m. That's Premier League money for you.

Saints really cashing in. Lovren having a medical at Liverpool and Callum Chambers the same at Arsenal. Looks a decent prospect does Chambers, hopefully this doesn't see him going the way of lots of other prospects and sitting on Arsenal's bench for 4 years, playing League Cup games and disappearing in time as he's played no meaningful football.

Feel sorry for their fans........a good, young exciting team, completely gutted. I thought their owners were fairly minted and wouldn't ned to sell all the fine china. I guess the Daughter doesn't care like her Dad did?.

Their academy has to be the most profitable in the UK, if not Europe. If they continue to turn talent over at the rate they currently are you have to say the model is working. As a fan, i'd be content with a similar set-up; moderate success, the odd chance of trophies, good football etc.

Boruc

Chambers Lovren Fonte Shaw

Ox Lallana Schneiderlin Bale

Rodriguez Walcott

That team would be challenging the top 4, with a better goalie. Sure as a saints fan it would have been nice to see.......

Shaw - £30 Million
Lambert - £4 million
Llanna - £25 million
Lovern - £20 million* tbc
Chambers - £16 million*tbc

Theres £95 million Saints have brought in plus Schinerlin and Roduriges are both touted to go for around £20 million each.

Will Southampton replace them?

Lukaku has signed for Everton in a £28million deal. Is he really worth £28million?? Seems like madness to me.

I'd like to see everton build on last year, they're edging closer to being a top four outfit, much rather them up there than thier red neighbours.

His record suggests that he's going to get them a minimum of 15 Premier League goals a season over five years; most clubs would spend £28m for 75 goals and consider it worth every penny.

I just think £28million is a lot of money to spend, and the way it's being talked about is as if it's no big deal. I'm actually scared that in 5 years time the fee of £20million will be nothing..although to some clubs that seems to be their opening bid.

£20m is nothing to the established Premier League sides. They get over 4 times that every year in their TV deals alone, which are exponentially increasing. Give it another decade and clubs will be spending £20m on average players all the time, in the way £5m deals are done now. It's already being done now, Lallana, Andy Carroll, Downing, McCormack, etc. As player and agent power continues to increase, the commercialisation of the sport grows, and the elite becomes ever more dominant and lucrative, the only outcome will be rising transfer fees. If it scares you then I suggest that you're in the wrong sport! It'll only get worse. Look at how much Luke Shaw went for and how much he earns.

Lukaku is one of the most highly-regarded young strikers in Europe, despite having his progress massively hindered by Chelsea. And at 21 his re-sale value will likely be just as high, if not higher, than what Everton have paid for him.

No wonder my post count..
Taking their well documented finances into consideration, that's Everton putting a lot of eggs in one basket.

Definitely a good signing, for sure. I hope for their sake it works out (and means we have a likeable scouse team in Europe.)
