Summer 25 Transfer Window!!!

Gyros Peter

Think he probably stands a better chance but hasn't he been in and out of the Oly team this season also?
Looks like he has played most of the time but had a knock that cut a couple of games short and kept him out for a few.

@GreeksBearingGifts knows much more and has said he hasn't quite been up to his levels from last year, but that may have changed?

Whether he comes to us depends on a few things I think: how much he wants the Prem, would he be happy as a squad player and what the original plan with the deal was - he may have been an Oly signing all along?

Carmo can definitely come in and be 3rd/4th choice CB.

He's played in Europe for the last 7 seasons (CL for Porto, EL for Braga and Oly, and won the ECL with Oly).

His Braga to Porto transfer fee was the highest ever between Portuguese clubs (€20m plus add ons).

And he's a 6ft 5 / 196cm giant, so fits the "let them cross, we'll win everything" profile we've been recruiting.

He's only 25 too.

He'll be like a new signing in the Summer.

Unless we do Oly a favour again.

I doubt either will ever play a competitive game for us. They’ll be moved to another of EM’s clubs or be sat around with Dennis when he returns from his loan.

Carmo could definitely play for us, he is a big game player & really does suit the way we play - Oly's numbers again in Europe defensively are very good and let's not forget the two standouts in the Conference League final were Milenkovic & Carmo.

I could also see him moving to Olympiacos permanently for something like £8m & it becomes a net positive for us PSR wise, but I do think Nuno will look at him especially if he has another good season.

People forget Porto paid 20m euros for him in 2022. He could easily walk into Boly's role in the squad IMO, it's tailor made for him.

That's my wonder with him - if Boly moves on I'd expect Carmo to come in, assuming he's happy to come and fight for a spot in a pretty well established CB group. I also assume he'd come in if we were to cash in on Murillo. If no one goes I wonder if he'd be happier where he is?

As I said, he did not start the season well. He is steadily improving, and I'd say he is close to his last season standards.

Thanks for the info - I was a bit surprised by just how positive that breaking the lines article was given I remember you saying he'd started OK but some way off last year's levels. Glad he's getting back to it.

He's on a rich vein of form at the moment too. Has the physical profile we'd look for, I think it would be a really sensible addition.

JPM will be 28 by the summer, Palace probably want upwards of 40m for him, might be similar situation to Wissa. With Guehi likely to finally leave, might be difficult to prize him away as well.

FWIW, I think he would slot in perfectly in the Nuno system, can hold the ball up too, strong and has a good finish on him.

Very few players are coming in and ousting Wood, he’s literally world class at the minute

Mateta is the closest thing to Wood in the league both in style but he’s also an excellent finisher

He would be a great signing
Wood is 34 next season so the ideal solution is to bring in a younger understudy/long term replacement, I’d prefer Delap he’ll be Englands new number 9 once Kane retires.

Next season you could rotate them Watkins Duran style however I think we’d go for a completely different profile similar to Wissa or Marmoush.

Even if Boly stays, and potentially with European football to consider, I think we'll need a fifth CB - unless Bindon is earmarked for that role?

I think Abbott will take a CL spot as a homegrown player? I’m sure he’ll be ecstatic travelling to Europe for at least 4 away games.

In the wider scheme of things, I think Abbot, Bindon and Carmo will get pre-season to impress.

Bindon will likely end up out on loan, but if he’s as good as they say he is, it could mean Carmo departs without ever playing a game for Forest.

I guess it really depends on how much money we have to spend and how everything aligns, but if we can, I would really like to see us go for Delap at Ipswich AND someone to improve the winger positions like Cunha as our big signings (assuming we make UCL) that likely wouldn't leave a lot of money elsewhere unless we manage to make some creative sales, but that would be fine imo, I would keep Toff as a 4th choice Full Back personally as he is cheap and fairly reliable. Then see who we can sign on a Free Transfer to be the 3rd choice Full Back and 4th choice CB, that would give us a squad of:

GK: Sels, Miguel, Bott
CB: Murillo, Milenkovic, Morato, Signing (or Carmo)
FB: Williams, Aina, Signing, Toffolo
MC: Anderson, Sangare, Danilo, Yates, Dominguez
ATT: MGW, Elanga, CHO, Signing, Sosa, Jota
ST: Wood, Awoniyi, Signing

Then a couple of those players would have to make way for a couple of Academy lads for European games

Abbott will still be U21 next season (and the one after), so won't count towards the 25 man squad regardless. If Nuno wants to keep him around then there won't be any restrictions, same as this season in the league.

Ansu Fati would be a very inexpensive purchase. Confidence rebuild job, but on his day unplayable. 2-5m€ ? Haven’t a clue regarding wages.
