Well. I'll admit I never thought I'd see him sign for a Premier League club but he's only gone and done it!

It can't all be down to just hard work, there must be a modicum of talent in there.

Fair play to him.

Hope he can take another step forwards now.
Martin O'Neil, Sabri Lamouchi, Chris Hughton, Stevie Cooper & Nuno all agree

If Forest are ever in a position where we've outgrown & have no use for RY then we'll be absolutely top level

Superb news and a richly deserved vote of confidence in both his ability and character.

Although he's far too modest to admit it, playing everywhere from the Conference to the PL and repeatedly being chosen by Forest managers, including such luminaries as Nuno and Steve Cooper, demonstrates fairly clearly that he's a very good footballer, with effort levels rarely seen these days.

The spirit of the club, one of us and set to be here for many more years.

Just the Champions league to go and I wouldn't put it past him to play if we ever get to it whilst he is at the club

Absolutely thrilled with this news.

You always know what you’re getting with Yates. An irritating, frustrating and hard-to-play-against bugger with a heart of gold and loyal to his roots.

Would run through a brick wall for our club and is Forest to the core. Great news.

Question though - even though i can't see a club coming in for him anytime soon, what would you value him in the current market if a bid ever did come in - imo £20m minimum.

Assuming we're striving for mid table & above, .I'm yet to be convinced Yates has the quality to run a midfield at that level.

For his character & application levels alone, You have to be happy he got the contract.

He's obviously a great guy to have in the squad.

But, if we start the season without him yet finish it with him in the starting eleven it tells me we've had another relegation battle because those chosen ahead have failed.

There will be games that suit Yatesy, others where we need to be more adventurous.

People said the same thing regarding playing in the Prem at all.

Infact people said the same thing in the Championship.

Him & Johnson were/are the only two players to grow at the same rate of the club, I suggest he's going to continue to do so. His job in the team isn't to run a midfield - if you judge every midfielder by those standards at this level then there are about 10 good midfielders.

One of my Yates wonders is with another years PL confidence/experience whether he could become the type of player who helps us see out games.

As I've mentioned before I'd really like to see us bring in an experienced type for this purpose (and to compete for that DM spot) but Yates could well become that if we can coach him into a sitting role when required.

That said, I suspect with his ability to get on a chance in and around the box and Nuno's build on what we have late approach at Wolves it may well be that he starts more than he finishes.

Either way, great guy and fantastic person/player to have in the squad. He's probably going to be last man standing from that promotion squad - credit to him!
