Nottingham's dirty secret
I fail to see how we'll see enough of him in order to make an informed decision on whether or not he's worth activating the obligation to buy for.

I'm assuming it's for nuno to make that decision to see if he can work with him during training. The same with reyna

He played the last 5-10 minutes at Bournemouth didn't he?
That’s right, it’s been his only performance for Forest so far.

Until forest get the ffp verdict, this kid is an additional body in attack just in case. Wasn't expecting origi to be retained since there was talk he was leaving in jan.

He'll probably get chances if Nuno thinks he's good enough. If not we probably won't sign him.

I was surprised on 3 counts for the lad:
1 He is 6 feet 1 inch tall (I thought he was much shorter);
2 We have on loan with an option to purchase at EUR 12m - I thought we had picked him up on a "free";
3 His contract with Sporting CP expires in 2028, and their is a releas clause of EUR 80m.
I think we could do worse...

Release clause is only because they're mandatory in Spain and Portugal, not really a reflection of his potential.

Nothing against the kid but we need a proper ready to go striker next year.

6'1 is about average height for a footballer though, even the players who are in the traditionally shorter positions like winger and full back are getting taller.

Strikers need to be able to compete with the likes of Branthwaite or indeed Boly who are well over 6' tall and being taller themselves is the best way of doing that. The quick feet smaller players like Raheem Sterling don't exist as much.

Even Cole Palmer who is a skill player and not really aerially dominant is 189

It used to be that big blokes were considered to be unlikely to be nippy and twinkle toed.
Forest seem to not have realised that is no longer the case.
We are a bit lightweight compared to most top-tier teams.
I had a boss who was on the books of Leicester Tigers as a centre.
He was let go because at 6 feet 5 inches, and 17 stones he was considered too small...

We sort of are, and sort of aren't.

So the likes of CHO is 182 which would have been tall for a winger but is average now, Neco is 182 as well, Toff is 183, so is Taiwo. Elanga is 178. Danilo and Montiel are 176 and 175. Dominguez and Murillo are 179 and 180.

So it's like we have plenty of just-average (for a footballer) height players, and then the height is from the likes of Boly, Niakhate, Wood, Yates, Omobamidele, who are all 190+.

You can easily see how much difference it makes with Yates in midfield with the extra height and strength he brings compared to say Nico or Danilo (discounting other factors) and how not having tall defenders in makes us more vulnerable at set pieces.

Both would be my take. I'll bow to the club's better understanding of the player on this one, but if they can afford 11m and feel that represents good value in the long term I wouldn't be at all unhappy... especially if they bag a more experienced type too (you know who it'll be!).

I'd go a step further and say we're a small team.

Boly's a bit of a giant but Yates, Omo, Niakhate and Wood don't stand out when you say "tall PL players". The latter is pretty weak in the air as well, as is Sangare who you've missed who's also tall but ineffective aerially.

Something we need to address in summer.

Think our squad average height was quite high, though theres lots of players not playing like Felipe, Kouyate, Sangare (and Niakhate to a lesser extent).

I've yet to play a football manager save where this guy doesn't end up going to clubs like Everton for £40-£50m and then onto a European giant for twice as much.

That could be a good reason for us to take up the option if we do have it, it could also be a good reason to not sign him though as well given game legends like Bakayoko, Sambo, Svindel Larsen and the like actually failed to live up to the hype in the end!

It isn't just about height, and 190cm is 6 feet 2.5 inches (not massively tall), but it is also about physique.
Man City bought Gvaurdiol - compare him to Omobamadeli...
Mind you, Gvardiol cost £75 million...

Imagine the set pieces!
MGW floats the corner... Toure is waiting... the ball goes straight into the keepers outstretched arms.

Also City aren't a team to do much defending nor rely on height as opposed to composure to get out of trouble.

Gvardiol is a ball playing LCB/LCB not there for his height really.
