Pre-Season

Redemption

One less gobshite...
Morning guys and gals. Been a lurker for ages but niw joining in proper. 30 year reds supporter frok Mansfield, living in exile in Leicester.

Can anyone tell me why there is so much negativity?? I watched the game last night and it was disappointing to give the goal away late on, I saw a lot to be happy about. Despite being a friendly, we matched a Seria A side, bettering them at times.

Happy to join the debate gents, lets be more positive about a brill new season! We support a fantastic club and we as fans are so important, lets give it some tea time next Saturday!!!

Welcome to the pit of despair. Let's hope your positivity works rubs off, heavn knows we need it...

Set pieces mate.

He can really take them, it may make a huge difference. We haven't had a good set piece taker for years.
A vast improvement. He is a direct threat from any free kick within 30 yards.

Who would have been the last decent set-piece specialist? Reid or McGugan, I guess?

Definitely. Reid was more consistent but McGugan could devastate from a dead ball. I remember him & Chambers were brilliant one season from corners.

Not just freekicks, all his corners I have seen so far are very good.

I was agreeing with your original post and also highlighting his direct free kicks.

Similar team to Mansfield. They set up 4-1-4-1 there so I imagine it will be the same.

Just read the report, pleased I didn't bother. Steele best of a bad bunch in a 1 -1 draw (and we miss a pen). I think we're going to find it difficult to shift many of this lot.

I'm not exactly sure what we're trying to accomplish with the lineup we put out. Are we trying to put certain players in the shop window? If that's not the case, I see no reason for starting Ariyibi and keeping him on for nearly an hour at the expense of Mighten, who we are trying to keep. Mighten and others are the future. Ariyibi is not.

Steele, Ariyibi, Clough, Murphy and Cummings are theoretically in the shop window, although finding takers may be challenging.

I'd expect some of Shelvey, Gabriel, Fornah, Mighten and Gomis to be available for loan closer to deadline day.

Err... I think Lamouchi was told to honour a commitment to a pre-season game and this was his 2-fingers to the Board.
Gone by September...

As you say. How are we going to sell players if we don’t put them in the shop window. Maybe, hopefully, there were scouts watching tonight.

If Forest announce this season's squad numbers tomorrow, I'm expecting 6-7 players not being given one.

Hopefully, it gets their agents working harder on their behalf.
