I’ve said for a while that this is a striker we should be going for, scored loads in the Brazilian league and copa libertadores.

Not going to get my hopes up too much though considering how we’ve been let down by Gimenez and Nketiah.

Does this mean we are looking elsewhere for a striker? I’d rather do this gamble than the two we have been chasing.
I thought we may have been in for both Nketiah and Gimenez so I'm still thinking we may be after two strikers. It would mean Taiwo or Wood would leave though.

Was wondering why a 27 year old capped Brazilian striker hadn't been picked up by a big European side before. Turns out he was, by Fiorentina when he was 22. Couldn't get game time and was already loaned back to Brazil to Flamengo and bought the following summer, and hasn't stopped scoring since. Don't know why it went so sour in Italy, maybe someone more knowledgeable knows the back story. Regardless, might be a risk worth taking and give him another chance in Europe here. Should be more settled since he's older and wiser and we have such a Brazilian/Portuguese connection.

There are a couple of Italian football enthusiasts that are members here so hopefully they can give us the lowdown.

185 appearances and 87 goals since he went to Flamengo. Some return that.

Time to crack open the showreel and I'm sold. The physicality of the PL won't be an issue, it looks like he loves a scrap with defenders by backing in and pinning them. He's 6'1 and looks decent in the air but at the risk of a cliché he has very good feet. He looks to drop in and seems effective at linking up play too but he still seems to get himself into the box a lot.

There's a bit of the Zlatens about him.

Just watched an interview with a Flamengo journalist talking about him, he is recovering from an injury but is expected to be back for Saturday. He's also called up to the Brazilian team, the journalist believes he's the best striker in South America right now.

The comments section was interesting, the offer was "to spit on" and that if Gabriel is worth 20mil then Pedro is worth at the very least 40mil. They want to give Gabigol for free instead, so i shall be looking out for his name to NOT be linked in the upcoming days. By all accounts he is rated extremely highly. Apparently the Big Man made the offer while he was in Brazil watching the u20 final against Flamengo.

**On a side note i'm going to miss this shit after Friday, watching clips of random players is one thing but subtitling journalists "updates/views" on said random player gives it a little kick.

Had the same opinion about a touch of the Zlatan about him. His headers are very sexy, the hang time in the air (Oh memories of DJ) is really impressive. Couple of things i'm worried about, he's 27 and already flopped at Fiorentina, went home after a few months and barely played.
And he really seems to love assisting, he's dropping right into MGW's space which of course could be tactical but it seems pretty instinctive, almost like he thinks like a 10 - which further confuses me regarding what type of striker are we actually targeting because we've had a play on the shoulder target (Eddie), a target man/poacher (Gimenez) and now a free roaming complete forward (Pedro).

Think they already did - we've been in for this guy at least once before (summer '22 was strongest interest iirc) and it was decided by the forum he was a wrongun because he'd lamped a coach.

I thought there was a thread on him but can't find it - can't remember about the Fiorentina thing other than he got very little game time - probably didn't convince enough to get on the pitch.

Anyhow, wanting 27 yr old Pedro seems a bit more of a gamble than 24yr old Pedro, but his goalscoring record is fantastic - I think we offered 15m before.

Looks like the opposite type of striker that we need. Ideally we would get someone who will make runs in behind and give MGW etc options to find. This guy looks like he would drop into MGW's space and clog it up leaving no one ahead of them.

Those who wanted the mobile runner in behind won't be getting that with Pedro. Goals though.

Fwiw I can't see us getting him - we cooled previously, twice I think, so while I think he'd be on our list somewhere I doubt he was the next one after the two we've missed out on. Maybe long term interest will pay off though I guess?

He's just played 42 games in Brazil. Likely to be knackered. If we want someone available before December he doesn't sound like our guy.

I can't remember him playing much for Fiorentina, he can't be that good.

If the link is true, at 27 it's probably his last chance at playing in the PL now so we could have a chance at landing him from his perspective. It will probably be a case if the clubs are anywhere near the same page on a fee.
