The two I spoke to Saturday were quite positive about it all - are competing at the level and should have got more from both games was their take. I thought they were second best by a long shot against two better sides who were nowhere near top gear.
Palace should have scored 4 or 5 against them, and probably would have done if they had ever got out of first gear.

They weren't great against a half-arsed Palace side and a Forest side having a massive off day. Hard to see where a win is going to come from for them. Man City next for them, could be fun!

It was a very poor performance in that second half, but it wasn't a full strength Forest side, missing our best centre backs and Aina, plus our transfer business is not complete yet. We are far from the finished article at the moment.

If this happened in late September or October, I'd understand the moaning a bit more. But at this stage it's an incomplete squad that still managed to get the 3 points.

IMO it was more concerning if you are a Sheffield United fan. Not many teams will have as much as an off day as we had on Friday yet they still came away empty handed. Still think that they are going to be the first real contender for Derby's 11 point record.
It was only judged as a very poor performance because we expected or wanted to walk all over them.

We should have been out of sight after the first half an hour & still could have had a couple of penalties after that.

We were still the better side even if it wasn't a stroll in the park.

I didn't expect us to walk over them, but I felt we were very fortunate to get a win in the end. Think overall we probably only slightly edged it, despite being poor for much of the game. Its probably the worst we've played at home for quite some time IMO, and a better side would have almost certainly beaten us.

Not overly worried though, I think it was more of a case of it being a bad day at the office more than anything more serious than that, and we still got 3 points so no harm done.

I just don't agree, I think people's standards were different based on who we were playing. There was a really poor spell when our defence turned into prime Derby County but overall we were the better side and still deserved to win, I don't think we were lucky.

I've just re watched the highlights, and honestly I don't get why people are down. I get the criticisms, but I don't get how attached to them they are.

It really is as if some folk haven't watched football before. You get games where the opposition look good for long spells. It happens.
Tbh I normally just ignore most of what people write if I disagree, they're entitled to their opinion. However I've found the anti Cooper nonsense particularly triggering this week. He's not infallible, we should discuss and debate his tactics (that's the point of a football forum right?), but criticism based on assumptions asserted as fact is just bullshit when we've just won the game.

Personally I don't think I could've argued that were unlucky had the game ended 1-1, but I'm just relieved to get the 3 points at the end of the day. We are still a work in progress and I think we will improve anyway.

Not just that but it's a different game to almost every game we played last year. It was more of a Championship game.

I wouldn't say we were lucky at all; we got the job done against a Championship-level Sheffield United side

I do however think we were poor, in possession, in pressing and in exposing their weaknesses

But we did the job we needed to and got three points

That is true, and is probably the reason why the game panned out the way it did. There wasn't any games last year where we were expected to have more of the ball any dominate last season. A different situation to what we are used to nowadays.

I'm not sure I'd use the term 'lucky' but we couldn't have had any complaints had it finished 1-1.

We were better in the opening twenty, we dominated the final twenty, but we needlessly conceded control of the game for the fifty minutes inbetween. Also Sheffield United had the best chance of the game which they didn't take, could have easily ended 2-1 to the away side.

It wasn't a bad Forest performance but there were too many individual errors and too much lethargy. Too passive for too long. As long as we learn from it and Cooper realises a 4231 on the front foot against weaker opposition is a genuine option rather than an almost throw of the dice last chance, then it's all good.

Key thing is points on the board. Twas always thus.

I suspect all the fantasy football types have started their man city players and captained Harland?

Watched this on hols in Tenerife in "The Winchester" where there were fans from Liverpool, Leeds, West Brom and Shef Utd. I know we could have played better but I don't get some of the negativity on here. We were clearly the better side and deserved to win the game (even the Shef Utd) fan admitted as much. Could have been out of site after the 1st 20 minutes. All without our 2 best CB's. Lots to be positive about and good to keep the winning streak going at the WFCG. Decent start to the season so far and hopefully a bit more quality to come in over the next week. Onwards.
