Really need to win, but a win will be massively against the odds.
The bottom 4 are getting separated from the rest now, and even with a win, if Everton get a point, we will not move up any places.
Lose. and Luton win,,, we are in the bottom 3...
While I still think the last 10 games will define our season, it would be good to avoid being in the drop places.

Even with injuries Newcastle will be super high energy and pressing against us - they’ll want an early goal to relieve the pressure and then relax into the game.

If they score early it will be a 3 or 4 nil game to them.

If we can keep it tight for 60mins at 0-0 then there’s an opportunity for a result.

Turner was poor: his kicking was abysmal again, his shot stopping was accpetable, but he failed to save 2 longish range headers.
As for Niakhate, he has the worst key performance stats of any Premier League centre-back, and he stood and watched that hat-trick goal.
Either his confidence is shot to ribbons, or he is just not good enough.
He has to be dropped in my honest opinion.

Where do you find these stats on Niakhate captain?

I feel nervous about him too, like a mistake is never far away. I think he’d be a good CB for a team that attacks a lot and defending is less frequent.

But for a team which sits back a lot and is expected to soak up a lot of pressure I don’t think the concentration or composure is there from him.

Tough game today, regardless of form. You have to hope it's one of those no chance games we sometimes manage to pull a rabbit out of a hat with. Feels very unlikely, though it will be another decent days learning for Nuno regardless of what happens.

I feel like it's after the January break where we'll begin to put things right, while holding the same level of blindly optimistic hope as I often do.

Team will be interesting - can't be lining up unchanged, but expect we'll have a shape change anyway, due to our weird Saturday 424 thing and being away. Not long to wait for that...

A very attacking formation by Nuno; I doubt a midfield of Sangaré and Danilo is sufficient and tactically disciplined enough, for such an opponent.

I like that XI a lot.

Montiel has something to give IMO and Aina was rock solid to start the year.

If CHO and Elanga can get into the game and Sangare steps up now he has options to pass the ball to, I'm thinking that's a strong side.

Of course, a lot depends on Niakhate, Murillo and Turner not making mistakes.

Don't like that one bit. Leaving out Williams who's been great is a kick in the teeth. No toff or Yates as well, to many changes for me and Danilo has looked poor in recent games. I'll give him props for going for an attacking set up though.
