With any kind of squad overhaul, should there be one, I think it's as much about value in as much as pecking order once you move past the top level category (ie those deemed too important to our play).

Like last season I expect a couple out that we either didn't expect or wouldn't choose to lose...

And I don't expect an overhaul unless one of our top level players leaves and we need to change style. Losing one of Murillo, Gibbs White and probably Elanga change the way we set up up for me.

If we get rid of players like Dominguez we are mad

People are expecting way too much overhaul, I think barely anyone leaves as has been the way with Nuno since he has been here. We need to add to the squad, anyone we sell will need replacing with 2-3 players of equal quality.
I suppose it depends what your definition of overhaul is Rzar. I expect to see one in midfield in order to allow the option of controlling possession in games but I don't expect an entire team overhaul

You could argue that you only need to swap Luiz in for Sangare, get Danilo fully fit, then you've got a quality midfield. Yates is going nowhere and I know you're a fan of Dominguez.

It doesn't sound too bad when you put it that way. I think we might see Danilo go but I'm a jury's still out person on that one, happy to see how he gets on in pre-season.

Yeah so do I. I just think the people that are flogging everyone who isn't a guarenteed starter will be miles off, I think there is zero chance of that happening.

I'm not an expert in these things, but I would see the players coming in being the best in their positions creating competition for places. We need strength throughout the team and the squad depth at the top needs to be much higher than that we currently have.

That is, to me, we need a second team as strong as our first team. In an ideal world.

This is where I'm at, with the caveat that we can play some really good stuff until we get that early goal. Squad depth is our biggest hold back this season, especially when you compare us to the likes of Villas or (lol) Man City.

That said, the way we attempted the comebacks against the above 2 (even if the semi-final was really playing on the edge) gives me hope for next season. We played some excellent football in both of those second halves, imho.
I completely agree. Whilst steadfastly retaining our countering style, we're definitely progressing from the largely rigid, but understandable (and ultimately successful) low-block tactics of our first two seasons by demonstrating that we can get at the opposition with genuine threat. An upgrade in recruitment during the summer will improve that further. I expect that giving Nuno better options to rotate will be the aim.

That's the ideal scenario VP. Maybe a little more than we can expect to reach this time around but I certainly expect our depth to be much stronger this time. The drop off from first XI to the bench is far too big at the moment.

That's why I expect the another couple of wingers, more full backs and a few places in midfield although some of those midfielders need to be seriously challenging as starters.

We need a couple really.

Taiwo has done very little this season, and for most of last, whether due to injury, form, not playing because Wood is doing well, doesn't matter really. He has had chances and has not taken them which for a backup striker you need, there isn't the time to play yourself into form.

Wood has been great but is also getting older and is already well into his 30s, though his game doesn't rely on pace much, there will be fitness related drop offs as he gets older, which will affect his availability and form.

Ideally we need to work on getting a replacement in for Wood this summer, they can adapt whilst Wood is still at the club and doing well, along with one or two backup options. Someone will take Taiwo because he can still be dangerous and we can use that money on other players.

"Nottingham Forest Are Premier League"
The Nuno Espirito Santo Rolling Scorecard (distracted by Wembley Cup Visit Catchup) 24/25 Edition

Spurs 1-2 Forest (before)

One of the best starts to a game this season, as Forest got ahead early and had chances to double their lead before they actually did in what was a very good first half overall. Good passing and movement across the board and very encouraging to see.

After the break, the lads dug in and defended their lead, despite a couple of last ditch clearances. They weren't as secure defensively than at various times this season and it wasn't hugely surprising for see the hosts eventually grab a late consolidation from a cross into the box.

Regardless, in Nunoball results are the priority and this one sent Forest off to Wembley on a positive note.

Nuno cards a birdie to move to -18 on the Rolling Scorecard

Forest 0-2 Brentford (after)

A really disappointing post-Wembley return.

Forest never got going at all as the current flat performances continued at the WFCG. There plenty of effort, but the performance was littered with mistakes and disjointed play. As previously at the, Forest failed to impose themselves on the game, often resorting to hopeful forward punts against opponents happy to defend that way and spoil the game.

Forest appear to be really struggling when chasing games now, in contrast to a few notable fightbacks. As before, this was a huge missed opportunity to move towards our ambitious target and we can only hope the prospect of falling away at the end of the season concentrates minds and provides addition focus for the remaining fixtures.

Nuno cards a double bogey to fall back to -16 on The Rolling Scorecard.

Trend (last 6): w, W, l, L, w, L.

I still think it's extremely unlikely but this journo has 1.3m followers & says he wants to wait til the end of the season but that Marco Silva has already agreed.
