Nuno is clearly a brave manager, but also a thinking manager seeing as it's got him results.

I love a good stat, and that’s a banger.

It does show how tactically switched-on he is though, making such adjustments in-game.

And yes, bringing on Morato is indeed a tactical change, but it’s done so to close-out a game.

And boy does that work!

Nuno dove from the top diving board with an actual dive, pure nutter this guy lol. Video is on Twitter as it might been in the extended BTS video from the paid forest tv sub (or I might’ve skipped over it in the YouTube video).

It's in the youtube video. I didn't realise it was Nuno when I watched it!

I quite like a stat but the fact that Southampton & Spurs are in the Top 5 and are where they are skews it for me.

Especially considering since the beginning of the season we've said both have just a plan A which is crap and that doesn't work, the above would sort of indicate they change it but I don't reckon it's the case.

I don't think it's suggesting it's a good or a bad thing

Clearly we have changed our formation in game extremely well this season but teams like Southampton & West Ham just tinker constantly

Basically shows to me the good teams make proactive changes, the bad ones make reactive ones.

I not good with all this tactics stuff, but there is a difference between a tactical switch which is planned and for which the team trained and one on the hoof to cater for an unsuspected problem.

Also using players who are comfortable doing a certain job and throwing others into a situation with which they are not familiar because the coach thought it a good idea.

Like most football stats, it is not meaningful in any analytical sense.

Its not only that, good teams have the ability to make changes without severely weakening themselves.
The worse teams always struggle with that.
There will be managers near the bottom of that table who are doing the best they can tactically, but just don't have the players so are extremely limited when it comes to changing things.

As demonstrated by Man Utd being bottom of that list.

Yes. To me that shows Nuno is prepared to change things regularly based on his tactical analysis beforehand.

Whereas some of the other managers are changing tactics reactively based on nothing but panic.

He is thinking for each scenario. Whereas many other managers do not. Others stick to their principles even when it's going badly. He's adaptable but it's with a plan in mind. Results show that.

This is a real manager.

I think I understand the point you are saying, but I wouldn't necessarily agree.

What's the definition of a good team? The last 2 seasons I would say Forest were good - they achieved their pre-season requirements, ie avoid relegation - that for me makes them a good team. Our changes weakened the team, but the team was still good.

Are Liverpool a good team? The league would suggest they are, yet they made changes and we're dumped out the cup.

Nuno gave the second string another chance in the cup, it wasn't happening, could easily have lost had he let it continue so made the right subs at the right time.

The 4 penalty takers as well as the keeper were subs.

Only bit of luck? was Miguel coming off for Sels. Can't believe that was planned as it would undermine the 2nd choice keeper a lot.

Next round onwards, play the first XI if we are serious about winning the whole thing.

We can't (and i doubt won't) mess around with things in the next round to a sell out crowd.

Full side out and we're 2 games from Wembley.

Whatever their position in the League, Ipswich are a Prem side and will be trying to salvage their season, so they will be going all out for a respectable cup run and safety from relegation. Play a weak side at our peril as Nuno has proved, if not to us at least to himself, that the second string en masse are not good enough. The odd introduction into a League game is fine, but a whole team of reserves is asking for trouble.

no more eric or toff , eric is young and very inexperienced , a bit too green , needs to go out on loan as he doesn't even play in the u21.

I'm hoping the focus for them is more on Premier League survival than a cup run, though that is looking increasingly slim with Wolves picking up a bit of form.

The Ipswich game would probably be a mix of starters and backups. Ipswich will not play exactly the same as Exeter did.

We shall see, but I bet if we started the same team with a few minor tweaks like Morato and Neco coming in for Toffs and Eric then I’d think we still win.
