You're not missing ought mate. We were a lot worse and unbalanced after those subs. He should have given Jota a go can't see how we'd have done worse. Neco was left on his tod by Nico and Neco was on a yellow to boot.
There's talk of Jota getting loaned out though, so he's clearly succession planning, options, one for the future, one in case we end up needing to sell Elanga or CHO, etc etc.

He already played for his previous club this season so if we play him we can't loan him out. And if he is needing matches for his development we probably need to loan him out.

Just saw the extra time in the first half and bits and pieces of the 2nd, most of which Bournemouth had the better of.

Just from a technical point of view, when Danilo was injured (a forward going midfielder) surely you replace him with Anderson and not have 2 defensive midfielders in Sangare and Yates at home.

Jota surely also deserved a go, when Elanga or CHO were replaced. The subs seemed defensive rather than looking to get that 2nd, which inevitably lead to the equalizer.

Nuno must be frustrated after yesterday. His main summer signing so far being unavailable through suspension leaving us to field the same team more or less that ended last season.

I'd imagine he's on the blower to whoever it is in charge of signings now demanding quality, seasoned reinforcements.

They presumably knew he was suspended when they bought him, it was only one match.

Dubious whether he would be in ahead of Boly and Murillo anyway. we always seem to look better when Boly plays and Murillo is our marquee defender so it's not as if we're now relying on Jonathan Greening or anything. It's his place to earn

We have to be careful to build the squad without putting silly amounts in on players. It's really options up front we need

Anderson was available wasn’t he….i reckon Nuno is more than happy that we haven’t sold the farm by now.

If he's potentially getting loaned out then don't put him on the bench.

Other than the late winner Vs Man Utd, I still can't remember having a great last 20-30 mins under Nuno. It all seems to collapse in the final third of a game and we either blow a lead or fail to hold on a large amount of the time. It's the biggest area of improvement for me. The equaliser yesterday just felt so inevitable.

Hoping the new signings off the bench chance things but I feel he blew it yesterday by sticking Dominguez on the wing instead of stretching the game with Jota instead.

Tbf with 11 starters and 9 subs you have to name 20 players in a match day squad. Whilst we haven't named the 25 yet, that does only allow you 5 extra players (over 21).

Looking at our squad we have
3 keepers (2 named)
10 defenders (4 starting, 1 came on, 1 suspended, 1 on subs bench - the others being an 18 yr old kid, Richards and Worrall)
6 CMs (3 starting, 3 came on)
10 attackers (3 starting, 1 came on - then Silva, Moriera on bench - then Dennis, Hwang and Bowler. Sosa presumably didn't sign in time)

So the players we didn't use yesterday at all but could have instead were
Matt Turner
Zach Abbott
Joe Worrall
Omar Richards
Emmanuel Dennis
Huge Wang
Josh Bowler

Which of those really would be a better option than a player we may keep this season but ideally want to loan? If we need to loan out any of the others we can't then recall them in Jan or loan them twice, or loan them out and sell them either?

There's logic for not giving any of the others appearances too.

They knew he was suspended but they were hoping the suspension was only applicable to a cup game.

The Nuno Espirito Santo Rolling Scorecard 24/25 edition

Southampton 0-1 Forest

A solid away win as the lads delivered what should be a relatively repeatable template. Forest allowed the hosts the majority of the ball, but didn't allow them to do much with it and often looked dangerous on the counter.

They looked much improved in defence, especially at set pieces and seem to have developed smarter game management, breaking up the play to prevent significant pressure and concentrating more on clearing their lines over playing out from the back.

It's still early days, but the result was important today and provides a great springboard to next weekend and a opportunity to complete a successful opening to PL3.

Nuno cards a birdie to move to -1 on The Rolling Scorecard.

I know we've only played what would be seen as weaker teams in the league so far and it's very early days, but it's still lovely to have an unbeaten start to the season, and be sat 5th.

Nuno deserves credit for his part for sure, he definitely made the right subs yesterday especially.

I love Yates, and I'm surprised he didn't start yesterday after such a good performance the week before, but if Nuno sees rotating him and Sangy as a way to success and it keeps yielding the results, then that's gravy.

The lads have a great opportunity to go into the international break in the PM top 3 now. It's still early doors for this season, but considering where we were when Nuno took over, it's fair to say he's done well do far.

Yesterday wasn't perfect but a good performance nonetheless. It demonstrates fairly clearly that Nuno quickly learns from previous errors and that this team has plenty of improvement still to come.

Didn't get much wrong, started with an attacking and beat XI without any sentiment, Anderson over Yates, Malenkovic over Boly.

Made the right subs at the right time. 9 out off 10.

If the finishing and the play in the final third was not clinical, it could easily have been 3-0.

I agree he did well, but I definitely think those subs could have come sooner too.

I thought he handled the game really well last night, subs included. Questionable pen list (predicted the two who missed would) but rightly kept Taiwo on for his first 100 minutes or so in forever.

the pen takers were probably left to the players , doubt milenkovic being no.2 taker would be on anyone's choice. Nuno did say that they had practiced penalties in training but on the field , it's always going to be a bit of a crapshoot.
