Didn't he have a really good Dortmund side then they just collapsed, never recovered and almost got relegated - so he resigned. That would be ideal to happen at Liverpool.

edit: to answer my own question no that didn't happen, but they were in the relegation zone in February
Yeah, it was more that the team struggled a bit, and Klopp seemed to have lost his way, which was exactly what happened at Mainz; with the 05ers, they were very much punching well above their weight when he was there, and he felt he couldn‘t keep that up, so he walked.

At Dortmund, he‘d done a decent job, but they were in a need of a rebuild; Klopp wanted to spend-spend-spend, and the club, mindful of nearly going bust a few years earlier, instead wanted to build around younger players who could then be sold on after 2-3 seasons - a pattern they have continued recently with considerable success, with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland going for huge sums, and Jude Bellingham (I can pretty much guarantee you) will be the next high-profile younger player to leave for big money).

Klopp wasn‘t interested in a lengthy project like that, so again he quit.

I hope it does go tits up for Klippity this season and Liverpool have to make a change because they wouldn't go for Coops yet but could see it in a couple of years

Last time I met the venerable Rocka we were discussing our friends down the A46. It's taken a few years but they are finding their level again and I bet Rodgers is quietly regretting not taking the Arsenal job when he was in the frame. You're sinking fast lads
I was sat with two 'em earlier today Trev, they're not very happy dippers.

It is no bing secret in Germany - mainly because he‘s got a gob like the Fulda Gap and has a couple of tame journalists he gossips to - that „Kloppo“ fancies the job of coaching the Nationalelf at some point in his career (at a moment entirely to suit him, of course).

However, current coach Hansi Flick is doing a superb job, since taking over from Stuttgart-legend Joachim „Jogi“ Löw, and has steadied the ship, sorted out an unbalanced side and brought back Bayern‘s Thomas Müller to play the „Thomas Müller“ role, a position that - perhaps unsurprisingly - Löw had failed to find a substitute for, after prematurely binning-off the Bayern wizard.

Flick‘s Germany are an entertaining, exciting side to watch, and he is not afraid to throw young players in there. WIth momentum build towards this years’ World Cup in Qatar, and the Euro 2024 Championships - conveniently to be held at home, in Germany - the belief is at the moment, Flick is set for the job for at least these next two tournaments, and if he is successful in one of both, he would be pretty difficult to dislodge, as he has his backers at the German FA - Klopp, who - you may be a little bit surprised to hear - does not enjoy such a cosy relationship with the football authorities here, mainly due to his frequent habit of gobbling off when he was at Mainz and (particularly) Dortmund.

New manager bounce for Bournemouth at the weekend then. Wankers!
I just said to Mrs S over the breakfast table, "Bad news for Forest! Managerless Bournemouth will come up to the City Ground and beat Forest on Saturday". She replied, "That would have happened to the old Forest, not to Super-Dooper-Stevie-Cooper's Forest".
I said, "Don't speak with your mouth full".

My old Cherries-supporting Uni mate has said that Parker gets a £4m pay-off!

BTW: has Parker ever had a stroke? He always looks like the left side of his face has dropped.

Seems like a bit of an odd time to get rid of him. Few days left in the transfer window and they were thumped by Liverpool. Its not as though they lost 9:0 to a bottom 3 side like Leicester. I just hope EM has more faith in Coops after playing against Man City.

Yeah but isn’t 9:0 some sort of record in the prem?.
Even owners who don’t spend wads of money have egos and defeats like this are frequently catalysts…
It’s why I always look at games like City with trepidation… sadly for all our love of Coops until he secures survival he’s vulnerable with an owner like Marinakis, particularly when 150M has been thrown at the operation…

I think its an equal record and 3-4 other clubs have done it before.

The statement which the club gave is a bit weird too. I think there is a bit of a difference though with EM as he is investing, said he does not want to just make up the numbers but acknowledges its a building project. I can imagine even if the worse happens, he will stick with Coops as he knows he is a good bet to get us back up at the first go.

It might be the right decision in great scheme of things as I think most of us on here don’t rate him much, but still pretty harsh, 4 matches after automatic promotion and 3 of them were against Lpool City & Arsenal. They won the only winnable one. But like you say £4m will ease the pain a bit. Let’s hope they bring in Rooney.

Can't wrap my head round why Parker has got the chop.

They've had Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool as three of their first four fixtures and they're still outside the relegation zone. Through in the cup as well.

No real investment this year with Parker warning they'd have a season of struggle.

What's the point of the sacking? If they just didn't fancy him they should have axed him over summer like we should have done with Hughton.

Parker gave the Board no choice: he told them “Back me or sack me”.

Seems a tad harsh given the teams they've faced so far.

On the other hand he clearly wasn't happy with the lack of investment, so faced with an unhappy manager and losing 9-0 I can't say I'm surprised he's gone.
