Grenville Morris
He was good. No question.Guedes played us in the friendly, didn't he? We can't have been too impressed.

Some people seem to be working on the assumption that the add on bonuses are a pool of money that doesn't matter, in this situation its far more likely that the bonus clauses will benefit the selling club more than us so it's incredibly unlikely that it's tied to unrealistic things like 'top 6 finish = release x amount'
A lot of it will be based on things like appearances and it's more likely a large amount of the add ons will be triggered sooner rather than later. The only 'long term' clause I can see Wolves being prepared to sit on would be something like a sizable sell on clause
If he had less time on his contract it would be a different story, but as things stand Wolves are in a position to dictate negotiations. They've made it pretty clear that the only way anyone gets hold of him this window is by submitting a ridiculous package thats impossible for them
to turn down.
The lack of any other interest should say a lot, MGW is a great talent but there's still a line that has to be drawn. I don't think now is the right moment for us to be firing off on this type of move at >£40m regardless of how it's structured
You can't but I'd assume that the vast majority were realistic achievable add ons. The ones that were not achievable I'd assume would not have a a high value attached. You gotta assume if its 42mill with add ons that we will end up paying 40 mill unless he turns out to be utter dog shit for us.I don't think anyone can reasonably predict what the add-ons are and the likelihood of them being realised.
If they really benefitted the selling club then I suspect Wolves might have said yes though, given that £42m is a shit tonne of money.
Amazingly that almost works! Finally, a model for getting the numbers right on MGW
Everyone has their own limits. If a deal gets done I think the numbers that come out will be much less than reported now.
But at the end of the day - it should surely come down to: Do you trust Cooper & the recruitment teams judgement?
I am not sure what they have done to gain a single persons mistrust.
Whittingham but he never signedHas anyone reached 100 pages before signing before?

Why would it be?My concern is certainly nothing to do with DM and the recruitment team who have done an excellent job so far, if anything my concern is that this seems to be quite the opposite approach to all the other smart business we've done this summer. Especially considering the way EM has personally intervened and taken over the negotiations of this specific move
Is it a target that Dane, our analysts and recruitment team have identified and are targeting or is it EM side stepping our otherwise shrewd business model and taking things into his own hands to try and repay Cooper with his key man?
Like I mentioned before, if it is EM feeling he owes Cooper then it's of course a nice gesture and you can't knock the man for his backing, but we have a business model for a reason and i'd hope we aren't bypassing it to facilitate a move driven by emotion

Why would it be?
Why do folk search for hidden meanings, underhand dealings and expose problems which aren't necessarily there?
Aside from MGW (as in completely unrelated - buy both) I'd love to see him back.Could always go for ben Diaz, we would actually paying ourselves the signing on fee
Has he?I'm not claiming that is what's happening, just pointing out that this move (in terms of cost/player and the fact EM put his self in charge of the negotiations) is quite a different approach to other business we've been involved in this summer
I don't think there's any harm in asking questions or speculating what could be the driving factors behind that. If nothing more it prompts discussion which with all respect seems appropriate for a forum
I bet you had Robin Gibb in your head for ages, couldn’t think of an actual Gibbs, googled it, and still couldn’t find anyone famous enough other than a fictional character from NCIS or another footballer to replace him.More chance of Wes Morgan, Robin Gibb and Barry White
Herschelle Gibbs!I bet you had Robin Gibb in your head for ages, couldn’t think of an actual Gibbs, googled it, and still couldn’t find anyone famous enough other than a fictional character from NCIS or another footballer to replace him.
Should have just said Bee Gees
I may be overthinking it.
You were definitely overthinking it. Was going to put Barry Gibb but already had Barry White so didn't want to over-Barry things.I bet you had Robin Gibb in your head for ages, couldn’t think of an actual Gibbs, googled it, and still couldn’t find anyone famous enough other than a fictional character from NCIS or another footballer to replace him.

Maurice would be sad.You were definitely overthinking it. Was going to put Barry Gibb but already had Barry White so didn't want to over-Barry things.
