Missing the football?

Otis Redding

Try A Little Tenderness
I was looking through the TV listings on Saturday night & MOTD had a retro best goalkeepers program where the panalists debate & discuss the best ever keepers.

Turns out it was PL era only so I didn’t bother watching, couldn’t be doing with a tosser like Shearer blowing his load over Peter Schmiechal

Would’ve been a decent program if they’d bothered with the likes of Shilton, Banks, Trautman & Clemence ect

Shove the PL up yer bollocks

I agree, but only acknowledging any football history since 1992 is probably part of Sky's demands from the BBC for the rights to show PL highlights.

Not missing the football 1 bit seeing what the greedy bastards are doing.
In fact, football can go stuff itself up a sewer pipe, where it belongs.

I'm very much begining to come round to this way of thinking Cap. I've not had an ST this year due to the health, but still got to around 3/4's of the home games. However, it's not exactly been a blast being a home fan this year with our shithousery has it?

And we all know what I think of our policy to prioritize other club's imported toss loans over our own youth players & talent.

Over 20 years of treachery from people in suits at the top, & the constant focus on hype & sales over reality & what's actually happening has stuck in my throat for years. Now might be the time that the straw breaks the camel's back.

The real sickener is that when I have gone to see amateur games over the last few seasons, the shit-housery is becoming part of that culture.

so the EFL have come up with a 'plan' that states they might start games in June and the season may finish in July or August and the games may be played behind closed doors.

f***ing brilliant plan, some real brains have gone into putting that plan together

And players are not allowed to train together until at least May 16th... they've thought of everything.

It’s about as clever as the LTLF collective could have come up with after a day long session on Stella Artois.

Was thinking about this whilst making the bed this morning.

Funnily enough I'm not missing the football at all at the moment. It has become normality, having no football, indeed no sport. I have just moved on to other things.

What really matters to me about all sport is the uncertainty and watching endless old loops where you know the result is, to me, pointless. Though I make that comment, knowing that my current bedtime reading is Cloughie's autobiography 1994 edition signed in red ink 'to Richard'. Treasured book.

So the live football fades into the past as I go about the increasing workload on the allotment and the old jobs I put aside in the past get put on the agenda. Like looking through a hundred years of family photos, slides and cine film; old stuff I've seen over and over again, but now gives me hours of pleasure as I relive my life telling my girls about the life which existed before them and which brings my wife to life again in my mind.

I suppose I'll be sucked back into the old magic of the league, the desire to see if my/our team can achieve the playoff position which I had hoped was ours just a few short weeks ago, but for now I can manage quite easily without.

Watching the 'premiere' of Italy v Nigeria from USA '94 on FIFA TV. Baggio has just equalised in the ninetieth minute to force extra-time for ten man Italy. Loved Baggio.

who is watching the 1990 World Cup Semi-final on the BBC?

Ray Wilkins has just selected the Goal of the Tournament competition winner on the BBC's master computer. That's numberwang.
