Best thing about this signing is there's no more excuses for Hughton.
Every position we need now has a decent if not good first team player and every position too (apart from left back) has a capable backup player and/or a promising young player.

He's not the greatest defender (or wasn't in the Prem anyway). Good athlete, good going forward & can gross, but defended fairly pap at times for Sheff U.
Be interesting to see if he fits in with Hughton's way. If from somewhere we pull a target man, then might be an astute acquisition.

He's proven at this level. He went to Sheff Utd as part of a £15m double swoop. We have a central midfielder this week who is apparently valued at £20m+
We've got a central defender and and attacking midfielder worth eight figures each apparently.
There is talent in the squad and after this signing there are no more gaps. No more excuses.

Totally agree... When Worrall is back, and IF we can get another CM to make Cafu, Yates and Colback all squad players then there really is no excuse.

I agree with Maxi. Yes, the squad could be improved further, of course it could, but there's not really much excuse for not getting a team out with the players we've got already that at least plays on the front foot occasionally.
