Nice work if you can get it!.

Wilder can’t have been such a genius if he was paying these sorts of sums for a FB, indeed but even a FB tgat had proven himself in the prem.
What’s more it makes our chances of getting him next to zero if he’s sitting on a contract like this. There’s no way he’s coming down to our wage limit and equally no way the Blunts are paying off his contract to allow us to take him. So he’s staying put I’d think unless the captains sources are completely wrong…

Not Wilders fault, he's not in charge of the fee or wage negotiations

Not a chance he's on 43k per week. They bought him from a Championship side in Derby County and he was relatively untested at a higher level.

An article from last year said that Jagielka was Sheffield United's top earner on £50k per week(!), but the second highest earner was Sander Berge on about £32k per week. I don't remember Max Lowe being on that list of top earners. Given that he isn't a first team regular and was pretty much an extra player thrown in with the Jayden Bogle deal to bump up the transfer fee a little bit (Bogle was the player that Sheffield United really wanted), I doubt he's earning that much.

Got to remember Sheff Utd's squad was mostly assembled whilst in League One, so paying a new kid who's not even first choice £40k whilst your core squad is only half that at best is a recipe for disaster.

Football Manager has him pegged at £15k a week. They're usually quite close on things like that.

Whilst I appreciate that I still think the manager has a major role/responsibility in keeping the club on the right financial path.
I mean he will be party to discussions around the transfer so the figures will be known to him.
If that scenario started to develop here I’d expect one or both of Coops and Dane to say “hang on a minute”.

The manager might not even know the wage demands of a player and nowadays even after a player is signed not know how much he is on . He will compile a shortlist of players and the club will work down the list starting with the top one. The manager certainly had a role to play in the finances in bygone eras but ultimately these days the buck stops firmly at the feet of the recruitment team, the FD and the the CEO.

Jagielka was not a Blunts' player last year.
He only joined them late in January this year after his short-term contract at Direby expired and the EFL refused Direby permission to renew it because Direby had done something wrong (allegedly).

I do seriously doubt whether a 39-year old centre back, without a contract would be earning anything like £50k.

He was at Sheffield United last season, he signed for Derby in the summer then moved to Stoke last month.

Happy to be corrected on that Notcher although it doesn’t seem sensible. Not saying the manager should do the negotiating but not knowing what his team are being paid even if it’s just to keep an eye on dressing room tensions doesn’t seem logical….

I'd probably agree with that

His crossing was off last night but his allround game was brilliant as usual. He is a lot like McKenna how he goes about his business.

He made 2 key tackles/interceptions late on when he was outnumbered to stop attacks

Definitely hope he is one we sign up

Was perusing some stats on WhoScored last week and Lowe is absolutely flying this season from a statistical point of view.

He’s the top rated defender and only Mitrovic and Harry Wilson are rated higher overall. Way out in front for most tackles per game with good numbers for interceptions and assists too.

I think all the focus on Spence has seen Lowe fly under the radar a bit, but I think he’s been a brilliant signing. Hope we make it permanent in the summer.

He is very efficient and perhaps understated but I really like him. As previously said he will often be outnumbered by opposition on his side.

Clearly enjoys playing at Forest, can have an odd cross go elsewhere but his overall game is good. He gets stuck in and he's reliable

He would be a good signing if the price is right as the rest of the thread attests.
This summers window is going to be both interesting and I suspect pretty difficult given the amount of business that needs to be done.

He's a very decent Championship left back.

Don't think he's good enough for the Premiership like Djed. End product is usually poor and he sometimes leaves a lot to be desired positionally.

I like him, I hope he stays even if we went up, if we went up the lads who did the business this season deserve a crack at keeping us up.

If someone's got that much passion to be at the club and talks about Derby so negatively, how can you not like him?
