Forgive my ignorance, but having seen him play for one of the academy sides pre-Covid pandemic, I'm pretty convinced that this lad is already on our books?

Not sure why this lad is still on the transfer page but anyway…

I’ve got high hopes for this kid, only watched him play once in an U23 match at QPR, but he defo had some real quality about him. Think Cooper’s spotted him and has started to involve him more.

Check out this 4th goal (his second) against Villa this week.

You'd think he'd be in line for a first team call up soon?

Seen very little of him-what do the U23 watchers think?.
Should we be concerned at only 8 goals this season?. I always think quality strikers at age group levels should be bagging tons of goals so why only 8?

When I've seen him he's been more a #10 than an out and out striker.

A strange rumour that he'll be coming to us on loan, for the U23 team (they play in the second league).

ur 2nd league vs our 4 league, which is better?
I don't know League Two in order to make a proper comparison. My guess would be that, in comparison, our second league lags behind in individual quality (and certainly in the quality of football pitches), but it's fiercely competitive, often brutal, and particularly difficult for forwards (points are so important that teams who score first often defend in numbers to protect the lead. Technical teams of youngsters like our U23 struggle there

In what is, ehm, possibly creative acounting, Larsson wil sign for us on a permanent deal (until 2025), not on loan. He is expected on December 28.

I thought the deal was off, but now they're saying he's coming over tomorrow.
It's at a much lower-level GBG, but I've always been impressed with him in our U-21s. If anything, he's been undermined by there being no genuinely competetive 2nd-string football in this country. I hope he's able to do sufficiently well enough to potentially step-up for Oly.

Sending good young players out on loan is a good sign. Proper league experience against hardened pros, a chance to see whether you'll really make it at top level.

Despite Steve Cooper being so good at bringing young players through, he didn't actually give any of our B team players a chance. Maybe Nuno will be a bit more flexible. In the meantime, loaning them out makes sense.

Sadly, I don't think it's worked for Dale Taylor. I thought he might be the next academy breakthrough, but scoring an occasional goal for Wycombe isn't much of a CV.

In fairness to Steve, the lack of quality at development level over recent times gave him no opportunity to promote any of our own youngsters.

Hopefully the signing of Ribiero is a sign that we're looking to address that.

Do we have anyone on here with experience going back to the bad old days of apprentices cleaning first team boots and playing reserve football versus the present Academy system which I think of as a sort of university learning.
