14 months out in 2011.
Struggled to get back in the West Ham team after that on a consistent basis so farmed out on loan.
I'd be pretty cautious.

As has been raised many a time, free is not free e.g. if we signed someone on 10k a week that would be half a mil per year.

A lot of high earners have left/are leaving though (Abdoun, Djebbour, Miller, Derbyshire etc.) so we have plenty of wage space available

Interesting that he's compared to McGrath and King as they both played on top form with their problems, which were deemed more severe. Talking of knee-jerk reactions, I wouldn't want this to sound like one but I did think he was playing better, somehow smoother and running better maybe, for West Ham a few years ago (pre injury) than when I saw him briefly playing for Wigan as sub. That could be misleading though, and I think he'd be a good squad member and if he could regain top form potentially an excellent addition.
