I thought he might be decent because he was in a World Cup squad good enough to win the Cup, not just kicking that goal.

I'm sure there must be a player there, but perhaps not to the British style.
There clearly is a player there - when he gets it right his work is very good. The issue with him so far is consistency though, in that he's now had too many brain farts/switch-offs.

Whether I would take the purchase option depends on whether we see Williams as a viable first choice for that spot over time - if he is, at 8 million I'd have him and invest in the left side, knowing we have Williams, Aina and Montiel competing for a spot on the right. I'd want a really high quality left back coming in though if that were the case...

WTF was he doing for the first goal?
He got caught ball watching when Palmer played in Mudryk. Not great, but it happens. But then he just ran randomly into the middle of the box, away from the play and where there wasn't one Chelsea player. It was bizarre.

He's just nowhere near the level we need. Hope we never see him at the WFCG again.

Matt on Forest Focus said it best…it was like in Sensible Soccer when the computer says no and your player runs in the opposite direction.

We won’t sign him.

If Williams is not ready, then play Aina on the right and give Toff a run out from start. At least he is our player and someone who might well be here next season.

The little angry one can get a send off from me - hopefully he'll have one of his comedy fall outs that run until one of them is subbed, injured or sent off.

Brainfarts aside I don't mind him at as a player - he's pretty good positionally (until he's not - can't quite work out whether that's rust or switching off), is fairly composed in an attacking sense and links well, without having the kind of dynamism Nico has. He's layed on a decent amount of chances too.

I'm not disappointed he won't be with us next year but I don't think he's been a complete flop - played his part with a few assists. And let's face it, he was worth whatever we payed for his Grealish fallout at the end of the City game (at their place).

Agree, he's been pretty decent going forward. Unfortunately that's not all we need him for.

Just another example of a player who is out of his depth in the PL, no doubt he's an alright player at a lower level but he's not cut out for the demands of this level

Shockingly bad on his debut which you can put down to nerves, rubbish at the weekend and clumsy against Sheffield United which could've cost us big time. He had a couple of decent games when Nuno first came in but I am largely unimpressed. Get rid.

Fair to say his performances have been inconsistent at best. Given his track record, experience and price tag - I think it's also fair to say that we should have expected better.
If it wasn't for the brainfarts I think we probably got what I expected - a hot headed 8 million pound (peanuts at this level really) squad player.

He was quite a bit smaller than I expected thinking about it - clearly not a Cooper type.

Anyhow, the good news is we got Aina for less!

I guess he found 'his level' when he was winning the World Cup, Europa League and Copa America as well as in La Liga?

He's shown flashes of brilliance, but it's not worked out for him here. Can't imagine it's helped being in and out of the side and the off field legal distractions.

Won't be missed when he goes, but it wasn't a case of him being out of his depth.

Flashes of brilliance? He can't defend for starters

The lad can't defend for shit and costs us goals

Whatever he brings going forward is largely irrelevant, we can't afford to have someone so leaky in the side

Looked a good signing on paper but he's not a player I'd give any more time or thought to

Needs to go back to Sevilla on June 1st

This level?

English exceptionalism.
Do you not consider the EPL to be the toughest division of club football? I don't think that's a controversial take, to 'make it' as a player at this level you have to be the real deal. Some divisions are more forgiving and can afford to carry players that have limitations, you don't get away with that in the PL. For example fullbacks that can't defend

And yet Harry Maguire continues to make a living playing in it.
