Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Slightly different because of Everton and Leicester both breaching, but if you took four points of us last year, we go down. So if 4 points relegates us this season, then it's fair I reckon and we got another year of Premier League football and money. Overspending last season (yes, I know the recruitment strategy was scattergun to say the least) but ultimately it kept us up, and we still have a really good chance of staying up this season. The reward may well have been worth the risk.

As owner though he ultimately takes responsibility

He doesn't get to be absolved of culpability just because he's invested lots of money, that's not how it works
But you also have to ask where we'd be without his money. He employs people to run the club and he should sack whoever has f**ked up.

The owner is the one with ultimate responsibility.

If he hired incompetent senior management then it's his responsibility.

Nah you don't get it.

The owner takes credit for hiring Steve Cooper even if Steve Cooper did all the good work to get us to where we are.

He also gets to dodge accountability for hiring the finance people who've resulted in us getting a points deduction.

That's what ambition buys ya.

I'd hate this season to end with us 3 points off and history taunting us with an asterisk.

The owner is the one with the money, he is not the one running the accounts or advising, he just opens his wallet.
He was advised by someone who was supposed to be an expert in this field, Nicholas Randall, that we would be fine against any PSR rules. Since we have found out that we are not, Nicholas Randall has been relieved of his duties and we took every step possible in January to abide by the rules.
This is not EM fault, he is only at fault for having ambition, which at times has been a bit too optimistic.
Also EM has not just invested on the pitch, he is been willing at every opportunity to open his wallet to improve the club. Whether that be the stadium, training ground, marketing and general fan experience.
We are very lucky to have the owner we do, it will not take you long to look around the Prem and realise we could be much worse off.
The owner has literally left the club without a CEO since HE didn't pay Murphy his promotion bonus, and has his son making signings.

But that isn‘t the case, according to what is being now reported?

Forest knew they would not be compliant. They knew this when Brennan turned down the 30m move to Brentford, before the end of June.

Forest‘s argument - rejected by the Premier League - was that by waiting until later in the window, they could extract more money from the sale, and thus, make themselves more sustainable overall, as the entire amount would be booked as profit.

To say that the club were told by Nicholas Randall that everything was fine is - cannot be - correct. But that also points to a horrendous lack of governance at the football club, either way.

These things aren't mutually exclusive though

I'm grateful to him for buying the club, freeing us of that utter clown and then investing the money he has, but he's f**ked this one up by hiring clearly the wrong people to make sure we were in compliance

It's his club and his club have breached the rules; he has to take his share of responsibility for that

You'd hope we can pick up more points than Luton between now and the end of the season. They have a worse run-in and more injuries. Plus an appeal may scrape back 1 or 2 points.

Just the report in the lefty rag being re-hashed elsewhere.

The Guardian does a lot of good investigative journalism and is watertight in what it releases, even if you don't like it's politics.

They wouldn't lead with this story if they weren't sure of it. They're not the Daily Mail who will throw whatever out and apologise for it in size 3 font on the 88th page the week after.

What about if he's ambitious though?

Or really angry?
Time to buy shares in Currys, if he fancies putting the boot into a few more televisions.

Terrible spelling, though.

And you're right about the above
