Watched a couple of videos of this guy yesterday, looks a good keeper, expect he'll want to be first choice wherever he goes, I reckon we should go for it, has a mega long kick, seems to be good with short distribution too, brave coming out of goal, catches crosses, palmed a couple into the danger zone but other than that he looks solid. MLS window closes tomorrow and they'll probably want a replacement in before they let him go so we'll have to get a move on if we want him.

I would say, given the tme frame you quote, we had no chance of doing this deal.

Yep with no prior knowledge of the player, he does look a very good keeper in the making when you watch the footage of him. And sending them Horvath really is a non brainer, I’d agree on that move too.

Which is why you low-ball them till the last second.

The transfer window might close for them, but the 15m clause stays.

It's "10-12 now, or 15 the very next morning the window slams shut and you without a keeper for 6 months."

I'd prefer a more proven goalkeeper like Henderson, but the longer the goalkeeper saga drags on the less likely that will be and the more likely we'll have to take a punt on an unknown. So if we are having to take a punt on a keeper who is unproven at a high level, then we may as well make it a younger one with a good reputation like this chap.

I was reading through the MLS rules and they are very complicated there all sorts of nuances. Typical really of US style franchise sport; teams can even buy and sell squad allowances, seems to have more loop holes than a factory that makes loop holes.

We Americans love rules. For the appearance of rules. We also love exceptions for the privileged. But we typically don't like the appearance of those exceptions. Hurts our ability to be high and mighty. Mind, it doesn't stop our high and mightiness.
