Dexter Blackstock / Greg Halford

Does anybody have a striker who only does that? That role is defunct now. At the very least, every forward is expected to chase and chase all game. Look at Torres, Suarez, Benteke, Van Persie. They're always on the move and always chasing defenders down trying to win the ball.

Players like Rhodes, Austin and Hooper are the same, they work their bollocks off but are just better finishers than the players we have currently.

I'm not talking about work ethic. I'm talking about a player who is hardly involved in build up play just gets on the end of it. There are still many a striker who this applies to. We have Mackie and Cox who are very similar. They get involved very deep and get plenty of touches of the ball 40 yards plus away from our oppositions goal. The player I'm thinking of doesn't.

Says in the Sunday mirror if forest think Halford is going to shoot them to the premier league we are sadly mistaken 4 out of ten.

It's all about mid-table...
Halford aint a striker he does a job but surely hes makeshift playing there?

This.

I think if you put most players in a strikers role they would have a short honeymoon period, get the plaudits and maybe score one or two. It was probably all their childhood dreams to be a striker. But week in week out natural instincts come into it.

As a matter of interest, has Billy ever had what you call a regular goalscorer (15-20 goals) in any of his previous teams? I cant be arsed to look and the boozer's oppun in a bit !

Sunday Mirror ought to do a bit more research, he's there because of injuries, none of us think what they are suggesting. Idiots.

Unless we bring in a quality striker, i think we may as well get ourselves ready for disappointment again this season.

Well, to be honest I find it frustrating. We've got 6-7 strikers plus Halford, yet there always seems to be a bunch of them injured, or they are out of form, or they dont suit the formation.
Its like we have a load of half-strikers, what happened to having a couple of decent strikers that played almost every week?

Richard Cresswell scored 21 for Preston in 2005.
Steve Howard scored 17 for The Sheep in 2007.
Robbie Earnshaw scored 17 for Forest in 2009, and again in 2010.

I personally think that Hendo will manage similar figures to Earnie/Steve Howard, but don't believe that we will finish in the automatic spots. Top 6 should be expected, based on the summer investment and improvement of last season's squad, but top 2 will probably be beyond us without a better finisher and a 'new McKenna'.

I would rather us have say 10 goals from each of our strikers rather than relying on 1 man all the time which I felt we did at times last season with Sharp and McGugan.

Davies likes hard working strikers over a partnership. Hard to see any strikers getting to 15 league goals target he's set them if he continues to shuttle them around. Halford is an option to use when we need a goal late on be it a winner or equaliser, not a starter in my opinion.
