Won’t it be the ligaments that take the most time to heal and rebuild?
When I tore my ankle ligaments playing squash, the physio at Notts Cricket Club treated me.
She said "You'll be wishing it was a broken ankle - you would be back playing a lot sooner".
After the ligaments had healed and she said I could start to engage with training and sport, every time I pushed the ankle a little bit too hard, it swelled up and I had to rest it again... I reckon it took fully 6-months before I didn't get discomfort and swelling after doing a work out.

Potentially his mind could be the longest. You never know how a player is going to react psychologically. Will he think his ankle is going to explode into a thousand pieces every time he jumps and lands? We've all seen how long it took CHO to overcome that hurdle with his injury. Hopefully having someone there like CHO who's been through a bad injury will be able to help him with that.

The Graun has just reported he’s been discharged from hospital, which is a good thing.

As the implication is, there will be no more surgical/hospital intervention required, in that it’s now just going to be recovery and rehab for him.

He was discharged last night, he said so last night on his Instagram

Yeah likewise, did 3 ligaments in my ankle and although I was walking again within a month they never healed properly and my gait/step on my right leg has been dreadful since.

That was the last competitive game of football I played.

Yes, I know. The point is, he’s been discharged, as in, „go off and heal thyself“, in that his injury would not require further surgical intervention, otherwise he would not have been discharged, they’d have kept him as a patient, effectively.

Done both of mine, 20 and 15 years ago. Still feel it, especially after football (played Thursday night, still walking like I’ve shat myself). Clean break definitely the way to go.

Definitely

Years ago I tore the ligaments in my right knee playing five a side and it was a good year or so before it was pain free, and even now I still feel it if I do too much running etc on it

Leave out of the 25 man squad for me, bring back into the fold January fully healed.
Sounds sensible, unless it's literally going to be 6-8 weeks in which case he'll be back end of October and then he'd presumably not be available for the matches in November, December and January as well.

Also, no real point in leaving anyone out if we don't have 25 players we need to register, though this year includes '02s so Murillo and Omobamidele would need registering but not Elanga (who I think is '03). So even though we had 4 GKs in the 25 in the 2nd half of last season, and 2 of those have gone now, along with Felipe, we do have 2 players we didn't need to add this year.

It will probably be 6/8 weeks to recover from the injury. But then you have to build the muscle back which takes a while, Danilo will have to find the confidence to go into tackles again. It will be a long process.

Haven't seen the updates, but could it not also be, good home for a few days and let it settle, the swelling go down, and then we'll see?

Elanga is 02 so needs adding.

The other problem with leaving Danilo out if we had a 25 man squad is that someone would have to be sold / bombed just to bring him back in January before you even look at signings.

I can’t see it being 6/8 weeks. I know they have top physios and doctors but I broke my ankle 5 years ago. It was a clean break. Had surgery. Was in a cast for around a month. Then after that I was probably in a walking boot for another month. Then I had to build the muscle back which took quite a while. I doubt he will be back till January.

Similar timescale here, I broke mine last game of a season about 25 years ago.
I can remember having a limp for a while after the cast came off and weights at the gym being a struggle until the muscle came back.
I was playing again the following season but the confidence to go in for tackles took a bit of time.
No doubt Dan will have is the best of everything but after Christmas looks more realistic to me.

I thought we could leave a space free and fill it later but only with a player at the club on the day that the 25 man squad needed to be named, so we could leave a space and wait for further news before filling it later.

Danilo was taken immediately to the Queen’s Medical Centre to be assessed, before being allowed to go home. Nuno, understandably, was not keen to put a timescale on Danilo’s return. He has returned to hospital for further tests today and has an appointment to see a specialist on Monday. Very early estimates over how long he will be sidelined suggest around three months, but Forest will wait for expert advice.

This is from the Athletic. Percy also said at least 3 months too.

Probably see him in January at the earliest.

Yeah but in fairness Captain, you're a civvie, not a multi million pound asset to a professional football club.
They'll give Dani the very best care possible.

Thats not to say your physio didn't give a shit but there is levels to rehab.

If he's out until January, might as well get a loan to cover his spot in the 25. Fortunately, we dont have to finalise until the end of the month so should have a more realistic timetable for his return.
