The thought of this does not give me a chubba
I’d rather not sign a 2nd Division standard striker for the sake of it.I'm far from a fan but if it's a choice between signing no-one and a relatively small fee for Akpom then I'm definitely for the latter
As things currently stand it would only take, for example, an injury to Awoniyi and suspension for Wood and we'd probably have to play MGW etc up front
At least with Akpom we'd have a third recognised striker in the squad
Thing is though it was never 'for the sake of it' as lots on here assumed on that deadline day, it was because he is the closest thing to another Chris Wood you can get in and around that box, and can link/interchange freely with the Gibbs White role.I’d rather not sign a 2nd Division standard striker for the sake of it.
After an apparent good window so far,I’d hope the recruitment team have a genuine top flight standard player
lined up if our first 2 striker targets have fallen by the wayside.
Exactly.For comparison.
Looks a lot of bollocks to me if Chuba has more green than Haaland.Exactly.
Other than seeing him struggle here as a young player on loan 10-years-or-so ago Cloughie, I'm not really familiar with him, but as I commented in another thread I'm happy to trust the judgement of our recruitment people.I’d rather not sign a 2nd Division standard striker for the sake of it.

Ignoring that Akpom is a completely different type of player who will drop much deeper than both of those you attached, link up more, play others in and interchange with CAM (yet still come alive in the box)... That's why there is more green.Looks a lot of bollocks to me if Chuba has more green than Haaland.
Fair enough,Otis-but he has no track record in the top flight and I’d be surprised if he is really what we need at thisOther than seeing him struggle here as a young player on loan 10-years-or-so ago Cloughie, I'm not really familiar with him, but as I commented in another thread I'm happy to trust the judgement of our recruitment people.
Good news - we've currently got two, albeit one old and one broken but hopefully not forever.Fair enough,Otis-but he has no track record in the top flight and I’d be surprised if he is really what we need at this

We’ve been waiting 26 years for a good striker……
I'll get Ashley on mine. Can't wait to get Akpom's name on the back of my Forest shirt this season!
I’ve been fortunate enough to see seriously good strikers at this club-Baker,Storey-Moore,McKenzie,Woodcock,Good news - we've currently got two, albeit one old and one broken but hopefully not forever.

I've seen half of that list and believe we are successful (to a point) right now... And aside from maybe a handful that wouldn't come, I'm not sure any striker we brought in now could propel us to third in the Prem this year.I’ve been fortunate enough to see seriously good strikers at this club-Baker,Storey-Moore,McKenzie,Woodcock,
Withe,Birtles,Francis,Davenport,Clough,Collymore and Campbell come to mind.
I’m afraid our strikers since haven’t been good enough-either biscuits or simply not up to it-a large reason why we
have been unsuccessful over the past 26 years.
Good spot, though assume Gimenez's are the same as CA and maintain that Haaland's red bits (ie passing and defensive actions) would still be red as he isnt that player. (And obviously he is a much better striker than Akpom before anyone questions that!)Also, the comprison isn't the same for both players.
Haaland's data is ranked against other strikers in the Big 5 Leagues/CL/EL. Apkom's are rated against strikers that play in the next best '14 competitions'.
And that's the dream, I just suspect that from a stats pov those we expect to make a mark and make it now are somewhat exhausted, hence why if this doesn't come of with Gimenez I see us going for Akpom along with a much younger type who needs more development time (Ribeiro).I think we're far better off going for an 18-24 year old who just needs to mature, and giving them a year under Wood + Awoniyi, for a reasonable price, than going for someone like Akpom.
