Howard Wilkinson still has a few years left in him, right? Lets get this guy in the bloody hot seat!

Might as well say Colin Calderwood:

Has a strong record of developing young players, bringing McGugan, Bastians and Perch through the Forest set up.

Experience of winning promotion from a tough league, finishing narrow runners up to Swansea, eclipsing sides like Leeds and Brighton to the automatic spot.

Solid reputation as a coach and assistant manager, including number 2 to the supreme Hughton at Newcastle.

Thoroughly nice guy.

You can write stuff to make anyone look decent. Doesn't mean they are. If you're going to speculate idly about the fate of our incumbent manager, then at least suggest Malky Mackay, who'll be out of a job soon and is a darn sight more inspiring. But I'm quite happy with Billy, thanks.

When you say narrow runners up to Swansea, do you mean we were close to them? Because I would hardly say 10 points was a narrow gap!

It's narrower than 12 points!

We also would have been third if it wasn't for Leeds points deduction.

This is true, but that made it all the sweeter for me;)

Just knowing how pissed off Leeds fans would have been - that was one of Calderwoods greatest achievements IMO

Always liked Calderwood, seemed to take the brunt of the TAP/board giving him the bare minimum after promotion (in terms of numbers of players, not money) and just expecting a mostly League One squad, that was arguably weaker with the loss of Judas, to go for back to back promotions

The only real strengthening was bring in Earnshaw to replace Agogo.

Really nice bloke as well, though that does not always make the best managers.

It's Calderwood's turn today.

Megson gets let off again.

Well you could say Megson. After all he got WBA promoted twice and managed Bolton in the UEFA cup...

I never got why Leeds appealed the 15 point deduction. Who's fault is it they went into admin? Leeds didn't bounce back either the season after and only scrapped promotion the season after that. Seem to be doing well under McDermott now though, as expected.

Although I didn't think of him very highly at the time, I've got warmer memories of Calderwood him now; built the foundations of the Davies play-off squads with Cohen, Earnie, Kelvin and brought through McGugan. Wouldn't be against him returning as a No.2.

I always quite liked Calderwood. Like a lot of our managers he got a lot of unwarranted stick. Probably not quite good enough for the championship at that stage of his career.

Yeah, you are probably right. I don't think it helped that he was given Earnie, the Moose, Ando, the injured Joe Garner and Andy Cole and expected to do well.

Garner was injured from the start, the Moose got injured quite quickly, Cole was crap and left.

He lost Bennett early on, who was not replaced

Not sure how much he had to do with those signings though

You’re never going to win on this one Porks. I really just can’t see Davies going anywhere, he is a decent manager for this level, sadly though him and Jim Price have their claws in far too deep for it to be an easy breakup. Fawaz needs to get a proper business structure in place and get Price out of the picture. I like Hughton though, always conducts himself in the right manner and has a decent record. Like all things, his stock will go up and down and currently its low because of the position Norwich are in, those slagging him off would be spunking their pants if was appointed after Newcastle sacked him.

I think its very unlikely because of how ingrained he has managed to get into the club. A disastrous november fould see his position start to slip but i think at earliest it would be end of season before he goes.

Re: Chrs Hughton

Happy with this. All the best to Sabri but this should be an improvement instantly

Re: Chris Hughton

Fantastic appointment. Hopefully the club gives him the backing he needs (in terms of control and funds) and he'll do a great job here.

Welcome Mr. Hughton.

Let us hope you can repeat the job you’ve done twice before.

Re: Chris Hughton

Sorry -- so pleased with this I didn't manage to type his full name.
But I've wanted him here for a long time. He's a really good bloke, has an excellent record and will get the most out of the players we have.

Re: Chris Hughton

Doesn't "appreciation thread" need to be added to the title to make it official?
