Best Forest Striker in the 21st Century

DizzyBala

Jack Armstrong
I commented on Grabban's thread yesterday about him potentially being the best Forest striker we've had since 2000 and while I think he's got a good case, I'd be interested in the debate with the rest of you on who for you, is the best striker we've had since the 1999-2000 season?
Is it Grabban? Britt? Earnie? Johnson? Freedman? Holt etc and why you would pick them as your best?

Johnson
He had that one great season in 2002 for us, but over the six seasons, bit disappointing to be honest.

Freedman
Had more or less the same goal return in the Championship as the Prem for us, went back to Palace and scored for fun so he's out, for me.

Earnshaw
Shone under Billy, hit double figures twice at the club, 43 goals in 111 games.
Poacher, THAT celebration. More or less performed well for the entirety of his time here.

Assombalonga
He had terrible luck with his injury in his second season with us but hit 15 and 14 goals either side of that injury.
Ended up with 30 in 69 games. He could poach but also was good running at Defenders too.

Grabban
46 goals in 125 games. Double figures in his first two seasons, disappointing third season but he has 3 in 10 this season which is like 12-13 goals on average.

While Johnson had the highest number in a season, Earnie got us into the playoffs twice and Assombalonga made us the most profit, I have to give it to Grabban personally.
He's older than all the others were but still performing to a good level. The 3m we paid for Earnie 13 years ago is probably around the same amount now we paid for Grabban.
If Grabban lasts the season, he'll likely end up with the most appearances for us out of all the strikers i've named too.

Earnshaw for me. Just epitomises how good we were under Billy MK1. Like Johnson he still seems to talk glowingly about the club and fans too

Tough one. Britt probably the best just ahead of Earnie just ahead of Grabban. Not a lot in it really. Such a shame about Britt's injury.

Cloughie1975

John Robertson
Earnshaw for me too-followed by Harewood.
Mind you,if that's the best we've managed this century no wonder we haven't troubled the top flight.

John Robertson
Grabban. On account of the other 10 players were/are bobbins and he still scores/creates goals.

Rob Earnshaw for me.

Lethal in the box, developed a superb understanding with Dexter Blackstock and Lewis McGugan, often popped-up with crucial goals, and absolutely loved putting one past the sheep.

The kind of get-you-off-your-seat player Forest could do with finding again.

Tyson. Anyone who can score goals in a Megson team is in the same category as Pele.

Dooogie, ugh, the laziest striker I recall seeing and that is saying something. I think it was against Grimsby in 2000, the ball was played about 2 yards away from him, no marker around him and the lazy bastard just watched the ball slowly trickle to touch because it wasn't played right to his feet.

Even Jack (dives for fun) Lester was better than him.

Earnshaw for me.

Would hazard a guess he has the best stats in terms of goals-to-shots ratio and things like that.

Grabban/Johnson second, Britt 4th, Dougie last out of that list. Personally I'd have Dexter in front of Britt.

I'm amazed that he's only scored 40 odd goals in his career, 'cos when he was on it, he looked awesome.

Honorary mention for both Dexter and Grabbs (for quality), but Earnshaw for the memories.

Edit: though I can remember thinking DJ looked a class above anyone else on the pitch.

Grabban for me. Excellent under AK and Sabri. Not great under Hughton (but then who was?), but I have a feeling he'll come good again under Cooper.

Ifs and buts. But if britt hadn’t got the horrible injury, there’d be no question. He’d have been streets ahead

Britt came back from one of the worst injuries I've ever seen live - after Shaun Barker - to a reasonable standard, and went on to be sold for a £10 million pound profit. Statistically the best record out of those listed with a goal almost every two games for Forest. Grabban, Harewood and Earnshaw are the only other decent shouts in my opinion.

(Johnson + Harewood)/2

Or Earnshaw. Britt was good as well, just a shame how that season panned out injuries. If Fryatt and Reid were fit all year that season would have been very exciting and Britt would have bagged a hatful.

Just quickly gone back to look at that season. Reidy crocked Vs Derby, Forest top of the league. Didn't win another game, ever!

What are you lot smoking in Finsbury

Miller was absolute turd, his feet were on the wrong way around as he was worse than Justin Fashanu

I'm amazed he even scored 40 goals the crap bastard

Ishmael Miller always seemed to me like a player whom someone had tied his bootlaces together in the tunnel, pre-match, and as he was singularly unable to undo this, he just tried to play the game with his feet stuck together?

He was excellent at 17, and is simply awesome now.
