I've come back to this because I saw him in the highlights for Sheffield United against Everton and it got me thinking, if the numbers were right, he actually might not be a bad shout.

He's 25 now, he had a couple really good years at Blackburn in the Championship, he's gone to Villareal and to be fair to him, he's not really had much game time there then gone to an absolutely w**k Sheffield United team and 6 in 13 isn't a bad return at all.

He can play all along the front-line which would be handy, still got some pace and he's scrappy which comes in especially useful late in games when you get those half chances.

For say like £10-12m, I'd actually take that. He'd need a hair cut like but there would be a certain amount of satisfaction seeing another academy boy out there doing the business for us.

He wouldn't be our main striker in the Premierleague but if horror of horrors we did go down next season, he'd be a very good option in the Championship as well.
 
For what it’s worth a Sheffield Utd fan (season card holder) came into our office last week after our game. When mentioning BBD he wasn’t massively fussed about him.

His OTT celebration at his penalty in a “meaningless” game was also annoying.
He’ll probably end up playing for the sheep when he’s 36.
 
His ability to play in any forward position would really give us some depth.

Has a bit of the mongrel in him which is always good.

Perhaps hell be available on loan next season again. Certainly a better option than Origi.

He’s not good enough for this level, a 6 month spell playing in one of the worst teams ever at this level isn’t going to change my mind.

Sheff Utd played attacking football and generated chances for him, his goals/assists per minute isn’t even better than McBurnie’s & if any PL club signed him for £7m we would all be laughing our heads off.

Glad we were nowhere near this deal

While I get that you don't rate him the McBurney comparison doesn't check out: McBurney was 6 in 21 pl games with a goal every 214 mins whereas BBD 6 in 14 and a goal per 185.

While I won't lose any sleep as hope we are aiming higher, 7m for a goal every other game striker is decent business I'd say.

1 good season at championship, half an ok season in pl after being found not good enough for the Spanish… i agreed with selling him when we did and didn’t want him back!

If not, no comparison to McBurnie.
