Barnsley FC Pre-season Friendly. Info & Match thread

Notcher

Stuart Pearce
Saturday 16 July, kick-off 5:30pm.

As a resident within a goalkick of the ground it's advisable for anyone attending or thinking of going to the match against Barnsley on Saturday.

I know quite a few people haven't received their tickets for Barnsley. As posted in some replies yesterday, I live locally to Oakwell and know that they are usually happy to print duplicates due to unreserved seating. Barnsley FC have now confirmed

Visiting supporters can collect pre-ordered tickets and duplicates from the home Box Office situated in the South Stand. We will have a collection point directly outside the box office from 3pm onwards.

Also please note that there is a large scale event on around lease and a number of roa closures in place around Barnsley Town Centre due to the 'Barnsley's Big Weekend' event

It's advisable to arrive early, and it happens to be the open day for Barnsley FC so there are plenty of Beer and fan zones, bands and lots for the kids to do at the indoor academy adjacent to the ground.

Additional info for away supporters:

Entry via the Barry Murphy North Stand - Visitors' Stand

Turnstiles 46, 47, 48 & 49 – pre-bought tickets
Turnstile 44 – cash on entry £10 adults £5 concessions

Please don't expect to get away quickly either, The Council and Police are notorious for their full blown militant road and traffic operations which are in place prior to the end of the game. It's an absolute ****fuckery of a thing and not a single to resident has seen any effect other than to make things 1000x worse and piss every person off within 5 miles.

You will be made to sit in your cars and will not be able to move at all until they manage to get all official coaches away and out of their operation radius. This alone will be 20 mins before moving.

Keep it under your hats but knowing the areas where you can park and be allowed to make a getaway then I would without doubt head to This address where there is a Wickes and Aldi located. I'd then get your satnav to take you back via J36 M1 rather than trying to get on at usual 37

No sign of any Sound or Vision coverage of this - anyone know better? Beware of dodgy spam sites trying to get you yo connect - like they were for the burton game!

Any good boozers around for us driving up Notcher, or would you recommend us not bother due to the road closures?

The boozers in town will be decent and full with bands on etc. Soul Lounge and Annie Murray's are the ones I'd head to, there are half dozen in a cluster there which will be good and all within 10 mins walk of the ground as they are just up from the interchange.

Thanks Notcher, you were up early 😂

We're debating if we'll be ok in shirts, it's only a friendly so assume it'll be fine

i’m assuming the club has said nothing about being able to watch this? The media side of our club really is a joke.

Wondered the same. Seems odd that the only televised (awfully) friendly was the one in another country. If we can do that we can film down the road surely?

This is Forest you’re talking about.

I can only assume that every one at the club is involved in transfer duties at the moment because the flow of information regarding anything else this close season has been almost non-existent.

It’s actually embarrassing how far we are behind as a club. Sadly Derby crap all over us in a media sense. Their Rams TV thing allows you to watch every single game for a fiver. I don’t understand how in this day and age Forest are so far behind especially now we’re a premier league side and the interest has sky rocketed.

Because the people running that side of the club, the media and commercial side, including ticketing and retail, aren’t very good at their jobs, to be blunt.

Forest have been rubbish at this stuff for years. And as you say, it is a bit embarrassing.

My local side is streaming all preseason games for free, on its YouTube channel. There is also the VfB-TV service that provides coverage of youth and other fixtures, interviews, media pieces (like live pre-match press conferences and suchlike) all for €5 a month. There are highlights, features and all sorts of interesting things too.

The club also puts lots of content on YouTube for free as well.

It really isn’t that difficult to make decent Media pieces and get them out there - Max Hayes and Mr. Dore manage to produce some fantastic Forest content, as Obediah Stone might put it „in a cave, from scraps!“ that knocks spots off much of the clubs‘ official output.

Forest are playing in the richest league in the world now, yet so much of the football clubs‘ operations still seem to be run like a corner shop.

I'm heading up to this, was gonna drive but £6 return on the train to Sheff is probably cheaper than the petrol I'd spend driving over

Do you reckon Neco, Omar and Brennan will get some minutes tonight? I’m keen to see how Awoniyi looks with the kind of service they should be able to provide.

Would like to watch it as well.. nothing on the website which I can only presume means no coverage. As Strummer said, crap.

That reminds me, Stuttgart are playing Brentcelona this afternoon; I’m sure it’ll be a Cricket score against Die Schwaben that will see Thomas Frank anointed as the second coming of Rinus Michels.

It's rammed in there during a Saturday anyway mate and you'll hit the same traffic restrictions at final whilst because the exit leads onto the same streets as the ones next to the ground

Cafu is getting starts, I wonder if he's more in Coopers plans than most think?

Er, maybe you realise he’s the only Central Midfielder Forest have who isn’t injured or needed elsewhere?

Maybe he is in the plan, but for now, Forest have to work with what they have.
