Wasn't he already as he was born over there? Even though his parents are from the UK and he's grown up in West Bridgford.

I think it's a similar situation to bojo where his British parents were working over in the US for a bit and had a kid over there.

Its hardly a surprise or a particularly controversial decision. I mean hes got about as much chance of playing for England as my granny at the moment (and she's Irish). A couple of good seasons and he might get to the fringes of the US team...

Declan Rice being another one who switched from Ireland to England

Its funny 'cos I don't have too much of a problem with this-I mean listen to Rice and Grealish and they are about as Cockney and Brummie as you get. They are English lads as far isn I am concerned and if they feel that's the best route for them (and the best chance of trophies) why not?.
I look at some of the lads that have chosen Wales over England (Ryan Giggs being the big one) and think "what a waste". If you'd added Giggs to that England side with Scholes, Beckham, even Shearer its quite possible he would have been enough to make the difference...

I’d say he’s better than majority of the MLS players playing for the national team, ignoring the young prospects like Ferreira.

Maybe, but hes got to be playing regular 1st team football to get a look in even under those circumstances.
This year is a massive one for Alex. If I was him I'd have been looking at the loan lads that have come into Forest and what a success they have made of it and kicking down Coops door for a loan elsewhere...

I mean the majority of my contributions to this forum have been absolutely pointless, but this one takes the biscuit

Where does the F come from?!
the spelling with lef- dates to the 14th century, but that the origins of that spelling (and presumably its associated pronunciation) are “mysterious”. The word comes originally from Old French, and according to the OED, Old French replaced word- and syllable-final [w] with [f]; for the Modern French word lieu, this is shown by an Old French spelling variant luef. Both forms, whyever they exist, just happened to stick.

Americans class the 14th century as "pre" history, which is surprising considering they don't have a "history"

Where does the F come from?!

I think (being a French loan word especially, and coming from a time when there wasn't), it's had a bit of a sketchy past involving a few variant spellings over the years, one of them would presumably have implied an f pronunciation at some point. There are plenty of theories by the looks of it, one of them is that f and v were at one point phonetically interchangeable, and that at another point u and v were lexicologically interchangeable, and it just got a bit muddled. But no-one actually knows for sure. It's certainly a bit odd, but isn't on its own there.

We aren’t able to cover every eventuality with signings so will need some fringe players to step up. Lolly cud of been one but I think his injuries are crippling him, but mighten has a real opportunity. Mighten also hit with injuries but fingers crossed he continues to have good pre-season and get himself in contention.

Think the question with Mighten is whether working day in, day out with a premier league squad with the odd cameo here and there will be better for his development than a loan to a decent champ club... and whether there are any of those willing to take a chance on him?

Fwiw I think with time very much on his side staying with us for the first part of the season might be right for him, though must admit I kind of hoped we'd use a fully funded year loan as bait in a deal for Josh Bowler.
