16/17 Summer Transfers - Hit or Miss?

Heffing Psycho!

Hopefully we carry on pushing for Kaputska.

I was thinking about this the other day. While he's a cracking player (and he really is!) I wonder whether A, He'll be up to the physicality and B, Really he is a winger (I suppose he could play a 10 role) so does that mean no more 5-3-1-1/5-3-1-2 in order to fit him in?

I just thought we need another attacking player who can play wide or 10 and he would fit the ball. So it gives us the option to play with wide-men or if Benny gets a knock for the current system. Any one else for the role you can think of ?

I think he has the ability to perform at this level. I thought he was one of the young player's of the Euro's.

You're absolutely right he was one of the best youngsters at that tournament. Funnily enough I remember saying to a Leicester supporting mate of mine to watch out for him after I saw him play the first time for Poland in that tournament.

Off the top of my head there isn't anyone I could think of for that specific role. We know Montanier has an excellent record of bringing the best out of that sort of player as well so perhaps he would be worth a punt.

Zach Clough

Dont know how attainable given the words out on him though, looks a very good player.

Would be an excellent signing.
Unless there's something I'm missing this guy is way better than third tier football.

I am astounded that nobody bought Zach Clough when Bolton were going through their serious financial issues. Much too good for league 1

Would suggest we're missing an out and out winger, not a #10. Benny has shown he can play there, Pereira can too, even Lansbury at a push.

What we don't have is a winger who's nailed down a spot in the side. Carayol looks mediocre, Lica can't get in the team and Dumitru from previous viewing is totally shite.

At some point our 3-5-2 isn't going to work, and we will need a Plan B. As it currently stands I can't really see what that will be, aside from a very narrow 4-3-3 with Britt, Bendnter and Vellios all up front and long balls into them.

Rate Carayol personally, particularly if he stays fit.

Plenty of short term options available outside the 352 if you have Carayol & Pereira on either wing.

Bendtner can also play out wide at a push, and did many times for Arsenal - albeit they play a different system.

I think Bendtner has got the technique and physique to play in loads of positions but he'll never quite make it in any of them...

I'd like to see us sign a left-back, another winger and a top defensive midfielder.

Jokic for LB would do for me. Available and affordable.

For winger I'd go for Lloyd Isgrove at Southampton - he's 23 now, out of contract in the summer and looks like he's been overtaken by Josh Sims. Quick, direct and he works really hard. Available and affordable.

The midfielder is where I'd spend some money. Just get the best tough-tackling midfielder we can attract. A leader too, probably in his prime age-wise. If there is nobody available who fits the bill, I'd bring in Diego Poyet. Still can't believe nobody's picked him up on a free transfer yet. In fact I'd sign him anyway.

It's probably best that Hobbs moves on if he's never going to play, Dumitru too and Grant needs games on loan somewhere. Would let Henderson leave too if there was any interest and try and pick up some experienced cover for less wages.

It's important we don't sign players that block the progress of our young players next season though. With Montanier in charge, I'm happy that won't happen.

Good post - although suggest we don't bother with a LB, we've got three at the club already and we should make do with what we have. If they're all out injured at the same time then a youth team player can come in.

We need to be smarter with who we sign in the future but until their contracts are run down there's no point adding to the wage bill in those areas. Winger and DM aboslutely yes.

Still think Monty could do with a quality CB. He's got decent one's here, but they don't seem to be the right fit for him. Barnsley's 2nd was woeful.

Traore, Cohen, Pinillos & Fox.

3 biscuits and a liability.

Jokic at left back would be a good move.

Absolutely in regards to Jokic. He was definitely another Pinillos, very good defensively and surprisingly able when going forward too.

Not sure Villarreal will be overly keen to deal with us again though.

We can't carry four senior left backs and Cohen too, it's ridiculous.

It's our own stupid fault for tying down crocks but we should deal with it now rather than add to the wage bill. These players only have to play 15 games each in a season, not counting Iacovitti who could be recalled and do a job.

If we can get rid of Fox or Traore in the window then maybe we have a case, but the chances of that are next to zero.

I agree about being overloaded at left-back, but we may well have seen the last of Pinillos in a Forest shirt if his knee problems continue and with his contract up in the summer.

Traore can't seem to stay fit for 2 games and if I was manager, Fox would be competing for the left-sided centre-half spot, not the LWB position.

Nobody knows how much we are going to see of Cohen before his contract is up either, so I think it's wise to bring in a left-back on a short-term deal. Jokic on loan would be ideal, then assess in the summer once we know Pinillos and Cohens futures.

Another option could be Josh Morris at Scunny. He's having an unbelievable season there playing left-wing but he's played left-back before plenty of times earlier in his career.

So we'd be getting another winger, a definite goal threat, and extra left-footed cover for the LWB slot. He'd cost a bit though.

We have got ourselves in a bit of a mess at left-back to be honest. Giving Fox another year and 3years for Traore was a bit silly and unfortunately looks like it could mean Pinillos leaves in the summer.

I was reading it somewhere today but Tyrone Mings was mentioned as a potential loan signing. Cost Bournemouth £8m.

To be honest I think he'd be perfect. He's just coming back from a serious injury (for those worried, see Aaron Ramsey) but he is 6'5'', comfortable on the ball, commanding and can play centre back or left back.

Also comes across as a really decent guy so should fit in well with the rest of the lads.

Tyrone Mings is far too good for our level.

The buzz seems to be over for a lot of these guys.

Pass with distinction : Vellios
Pass : Vlad, Lam
50/50 (on the line. Their move) : Perquis, Hildeberto, Bendtner
Fail : Henderson, Traore, Dumitru, Lica, Carayol

Grenville Morris
For me Vlad is a 50/50 as is Carayol.
Carayol getting stick ( some of it reasonable ) but our 2 best chances yesterday came from his crosses.

But everything else is pure liability to the team.

Montanier even singled out dribbling from your own box and he has never done that before.

I could agree about Vlad as well. He does things out of nowhere that lets the team down. Newcastle throw out to Cash when players on him and then the bizarre kick out v Derby.
