Well the last thing we have to do is knee-jerk and fire him (it's a different matter if he quits).

Last time we did the mistake of sacking the manager who got us here, who was a serial promotion winner, and would probably have been the best placed to get us back.

Cooper has improved year on year in the CH and would be in play off contention again with the players we have and parachute payments if we do go down again.

Not to mention he did it all ahead of everyone's expectations in the first season, when we were bottom third last season, and had not won any of our first 7 games.

I think EM is intelligent, he is certainly a football person, and has experience in Greece and plenty here now of running a football club, the chopping and changing managers never works (not even if you're Watford) and we need to think about the long term plan for the club.

We have been out of the top flight for 23 years, which is a long time. We have had seasons in the third tier in that time. Even with less time outside the top flight, and with probably more backing than we have available, Man City went straight back down when they got promoted. But they stuck to the plan, largely, and went back up and stayed there before consolidating and becoming a force. (Though admittedly they did replace Royle with Keegan after going down). Now I'm not saying us winning the league with Pep Guardiola for years on end is the end of this but, we need to keep the faith and think about the long term plan.
Yeah, chopping and changing rarely works yet every year it happens again and again.
I’m sure Coops will sign a new deal but we should not underestimate his vulnerability. It’s easy to say Marinakis is a “football man” but he’s also a successful business man, it’s taken several years and pots of money to get here and his interest is not the championship. That makes him just like every other owner who pulls the trigger if he, or his key advisors don’t see his aims are being met after splashing 100M on resource for a project.

I’d like to see Coops leading us wherever we are next season but don’t kid yourself on the pressures this season

Surely, if Cooper is vulnerable, signing a longer, more lucrative contract as soon as possible would be his best act of protecting himself? It would ensure he walks away with a bigger payout, should the worst happen.

Coops is probably just stressed out considering we’re attempting to build a new competitive team in 5 weeks as well the usual pre season stuff.

He will sign don’t anyone worry.

Congs I’m not saying he’s vulnerable currently. Just there’s a real politik to clubs fighting for survival. Maybe we will be surprised and we sit comfortably in middle table and there’s no issue but if we bump around the bottom it’s an unpredictable world

why does it seem like everyone is reading in between the lines regarding everything that has been happening the last week or so at forest? it’s getting a tad bit annoying.

It's always like this in pre-season. Just the way of things when fans are bored.

I can't work out why a contract hasn't been signed here...I understand its all been agreed so just pick up a pen and sign the damn thing surely?

I know Cooper has said his sole focus is on preparing the squad for the Premier league which is admirable but surely there's time in the day to stick your name at the bottom of a sheet of A4...

I reckon he’ll sign it as soon as he’s got a squad which he feels will be competitive in the Prem, he’s right to protect his professional reputation. Swansea didn’t support him financially and he walked. I think Forest have done excellent business so far but are still short of 6/7 players, so I understand why he hasn’t signed it yet. I’m sure he will tho.

I just sense, reading between the lines, that there is something not quite right between the hierarchy and Cooper. I hope not, but experience tells me. #nffc

Above tweet from Kevin Marriott @KJMsport57 suggests there are others with niggling concerns about Stevie.

Nottingham's dirty secret
I don't believe any of this nonsense.

BUT......if Cooper isn't happy with the business that's been done so far then he has mightily unrealistic expectations. The top brass are going above & beyond and EM's spending is likely to be unprecedented for a promoted team.

As I say - BIG but.
