No. Not simply because I don’t think he has been anything special, especially for the money we would need to pay. Mostly because our system is now built to allow Spence to play as high as possible, with Worrall moving to right back and colback tucking in. It’s very similar to Liverpool allowing TAA so far forward with Henderson dropping in to his space. Crucial you have those players to balance it up.

I think it very telling that I haven't noticed he's not been playing recently. Our present line up is playing superbly with not a weak link.

Apparently Sheff Utd now want more than the over inflated 5m they wanted in January for Lowe, despite him spending much of the time since that injured. That playoff semi obviously still smarts.

Thanks Max, you were pretty decent, but there's no way he's worth 5m never mind more, and realistically who else will be in for him at that price? Still, he's better than Robinson so I suppose there's that.

5m is a bit toppy considering we’d be buying most likely to keep continuity, but he’d be backup and a ready-made option should we go down.

Like you say, what competition will there be at that price? Presumably that’s their opening stance. The price will come down as weeks go by.

We should be focusing on a first choice left wing-back first anyway.

Not even worth half that. The £2m we supposedly offered in January was generous enough as it is IMO. He's a Championship level left back who has struggled with injuries and was well down the pecking order at Sheffield United, so I am not sure why they think he is worth that sort of money all of a sudden.

We could easily find better for that price, I'd rather we looked elsewhere.

Lowe was better than Colback at LWB in my opinion and made us more dangerous as a side. However he is a crock which is a shame so worth no more than 2 mill because its a punt for us that he will play all season.

I'd only be buying him as back-up so that should reflect the price.

I'd have no problem if the total fee was around £5m for Lowe but with his injury record at has to be made up of half now the rest based on appearances, same would apply to Davies if we go back in for him

A couple of mill tops or move on. Must be better value out there for £5m big ones.

Happy to keep Lowe as a decent backup but the price needs to be right

Sheff U money starting to run out. Needing to get big earners like Berge off the payroll. A player that was deemed surplus to requirements. Happy to let this one run as long as it has to until they agree a sensible fee

Seriously don't think he is good enough for the PL at any price. Not really even as squad depth.

If they basically let us have him, then yes.

We need to be effective in the transfer market, signing a player who spent two long spells on the sidelines with injuries is not effective imo.

They are a serious shit-house of a club.
I'd move on to other targets just to teach the f***ers a lesson.

He was a breath of fresh air when he first joined, pretty sure after his first ~10 games here he was statistically our best player (admittedly we were pretty wank back then)

If we were in the Championship next season and we could get him for 2m it would make more sense. But for a prem campaign his value to us goes down and ironically uniteds £ value of him has gone up

He missed 23 games this season with both of his groin injuries, nobody is going to touch him with a barge pole at the price united are asking for

If he is coming he will come for a bargain price, not anything close to £5m.

Sheff Utds bargain power is non existent, they have multiple players in that position and he’s probably their highest earner in that role, yet lowest in the pecking order.

Parachute payments are almost gone for them so it’s about balancing the books. If he comes, it will be cheap. They hold none of the cards as we aren’t desperate for him either.

I agree. I hope the arrogant shits choke on their BS. TBH I'm pretty ambivalent about Lowe, but the idea that the Blunts keep a third choice LB and screw his career for no reason other than their inflated self importance is ridiculous. Its not a dissimilar situation that led to us letting Robinson go there and he went for a nominal fee (300k I think) because it suited all parties when you looked at it in the cold light of day.
I feel sorry for Max Lowe...

He signed for Sheffield Utd from Derby.

Lowe and Zinckernagel to move to Forest on loan on deadline day if we miss out on our top targets…
